<br /> LETTER OF AGREEMENT <br /> During the recently concluded negotiations between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood <br /> City Management Employees Association (RCMEA), the following understanding was achieved: <br /> Internal Alignments: <br /> Supervising Civil Engineer: Base salary for the classification of Supervising Civil <br /> Engineer will maintain a minimum differential of 5% above base salary for the <br /> classification of Senior Civil Engineer. <br /> Battalion Chief: Effective with the first full pay period on or after May 25, 1998, base <br /> salary for the classification of Battalion Chief will maintain a minimum differential of <br /> 15% above base salary for the classification of Fire Captain. For the purposes of this <br /> Agreement base salary for Fire Captain is defined to include base salary plus 2.5% <br /> paramedic assistance pay only. <br /> Effective with the first full pay period on or after October 1, 1998, base salary for the <br /> classification of Battalion Chief will maintain a minimum differential of 20% above base <br /> salary for the classification of Fire Captain as defined above. <br /> Prior to October 1, 1999, the City will conduct a total compensation market survey using <br /> the following agencies: Sunnyvale, Hayward, Union City, San Leandro, Mt. View, Palo <br /> Alto, Daly City, San Mateo, South San Francisco, and San Bruno. The survey will also <br /> include an analysis of the base salary to base salary differential between the <br /> classifications of Fire Captain and Battalion Chief in the above agencies. Upon <br /> completion of this market survey the City and RCMEA will meet to review the survey <br /> data and for RCMEA to chose to either: 1) maintain the 20% differential between Fire <br /> Captain and Battalion Chief as described above; or, 2) set the Battalion Chief salary at the <br /> avera.ge of the agencies surveyed based on total compensation. The choice of either 1) or <br /> 2) will detennine how the salary for Battalion Chiefs will be set for the remaining tenn <br /> of the MOU. <br /> APPROVED AND ACCEPTED <br /> CITY OF RE, WU <br /> By ~ ,'.
