<br /> EXHIBIT B <br /> HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND EVICTION DEFENSE PROJECT <br /> LA RAZA CENTRO LEGAL, INC. <br /> FISCAL YEAR 1995/96 <br /> CONTRACT OBJECTIVES <br /> La Raza Centro Legal provides direct legal services to low-income individuals who because of <br /> economic, language, or cultural barriers would otherwise be denied access to the legal system. La Raza <br /> Centro Legal provides services through consultations, direct representation, referrals, and education <br /> outreach in the areas of housing, employment, and immigration. <br /> La Raza Centro Legal's Homelessness Prevention Project will provide counseling representation, and <br /> information to low-income residents of Redwood City in the area of landlord/tenant law and other areas <br /> of civil law. With its main focus on housing, Centro Legal's attorney, paralegal, law clerk, and <br /> volunteers will represent tenants who are facing eviction, illegal lock-outs, utility shut-offs, illegal rent <br /> increases, habitability issues, housing discrimination, in addition to other housing matters. A priority <br /> of Centro Legal is to prevent homelessness by intervening early on, mediating and arriving at solutions <br /> whereby the tenants and landlords can co-exist peacefully. <br /> Centro Legal is opening a new office in Redwood City and expanding its serves by two full days with <br /> a part-time paralegal.
