The following response to the Grand
Jury Report was reviewed and approved by the City Council at its meeting on
September 11, 2017.
Pursuant to Penal Code § 933.05, the Grand Jury requested response from the City of
Redwood City on Recommendations 1 . The Recommendation and the City's response
are detailed as follows:
(R1): All law enforcement agencies in San Mateo Count shall modify their
websites by including multilingual translation capability to potentially increase
access and participation in outreach programs by non-English speaking
residents by December 31, 2017.
Agree: The Redwood City Police Department implemented this recommendation
in 2015 through the addition of a multilingual translation feature on its website. In
addition, the Police Department also created a Spanish-language Facebook
page in 2013 to facilitate outreach to members of our Spanish, speaking
community.
