7. PUBLIC HEARING <br />A. The proposed use of 2004 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) funds <br />by the Redwood City Police Department (706) <br />Administrative Sergeant Harper explained the grant process and the proposed <br />use of the funds. He stated that for the ninth consecutive year the police <br />department has received funds through this program and this year's award is for <br />$19,147.00 with a matching amount of $2,127.00. <br />Mayor Ira opened the public hearing. There was no public comment. <br />M/S Foust/Pierce to close the public hearing. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote by those present. <br />Recommendation: <br />M/S Ruskin /Hartnett to approve the Police Chief's recommendation to dedicate <br />the funds to the procurement of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team <br />equipment and Emergency Preparedness Training (EPT). The motion passed <br />by a unanimous voice vote by those present. MINUTE ORDER 04 -193 <br />8. STAFF REPORT <br />A. Sponsorship of Montalvo events in Redwood City to help Downtown businesses <br />—Redevelopment Agency (405) <br />Mayor Ira recused himself from this item due to a conflict of interest. <br />Downtown Development Coordinator Zack explained the sponsorship proposal. <br />Bruce Labodie, representing Montalvo, stated Montalvo is committed to providing <br />quality concerts of interest to the community and help to develop audiences and <br />build business in Redwood City. He stated that the sponsorship is only for the <br />2005 season to assist in breaking even until the downtown streetscape and <br />retail /cinema complex is completed. He further stated that the plan includes <br />promotion of the restaurants through their website, posters, advertisements and <br />other partnership programs. <br />Bob Lo Presto, Trustee of Montalvo, stated Montalvo's pleasure in the <br />relationship and alliance with Redwood City.
