SIDELETTER OF AGREEMENT <br />Ward Hayter <br />RCMEA President <br />Subject: Sideletter of Agreement <br />Ward: <br />During the recently concluded negotiations for a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) <br />between the City of Redwood City and the Redwood City Management Employees Association, the <br />parties agreed to the following provisions. <br />1) At such time as legislation passes to allow public miscellaneous employees increased PERS <br />retirement formulas such as (2.5% @ 55 or 3% @ 60) the City agrees to meet and confer within <br />90 days of such legislation. <br />2) Explore the optional retirement benefit authorized by Section 20965 of the Government Code, to <br />provide local miscellaneous members service credit for unused sick leave and other prior public <br />service credit, as authorized by the Public Employees' Retirement System. <br />3) Establish a joint committee to explore the possibility of pay incentive plans, such as pay for <br />performance or objective based pays incentives plans. <br />4) At such time as an agreement is adopted with other bargaining units regarding an amendment to <br />increase the PERS Fire Safety members Retirement Plan formula, the parties will meet and <br />confer to determine the method for the affected classifications of Battalion Chief and <br />Administrative Chief/Fire Marshall to share the cost of such retirement plan amendment. <br />5) Within ninety (90) days of the adoption of the 2001 — 2004 MOU, the parties agreed to establish <br />a committee to explore incentives for managers who acquire certifications or licenses of higher <br />level than those either mandated by regulations or considered by the City to be a condition of <br />employment in the classification specification.
