7.10 Overtime <br />7.10.1 Fortv (40) Hour Workweek Emolovees <br />Overtime for unit members in the Police Department is the authorized time <br />worked beyond the forty (40) hour workweek. Payment for overtime will <br />not be made unless such overtime has been authorized in writing by the <br />Police Chief or designated representative prior to such overtime being <br />worked. Overtime shall be compensated atone one-half (1-1/2) times <br />the employee's rate of pay. <br />7.10.2 Definition of Overtime Rate of Pav <br />The overtime rate of pay is defined as one and one-half (1-1/2) times the <br />total of the employee's base rate of pay plus any premium pay, canine pay, <br />and any educational incentive pay, prorated to an hourly amount, that the <br />employee receives pursuant to Section 7.4 and/or Section 7.9, and under <br />Section 7.8 herein. Premium pay under Section 7.4 includes night <br />differential, investigation division differential, motorcycle differential, <br />canine differential, field training officer differential, and C -CAT, PAL and <br />DARE differentials. In the event that the City and the POA agree to <br />establish any additional forms of premium pay, such newly created forms <br />of premium pay will also be included in computing the overtime rate of <br />pay. <br />7.10.3 Comuensatory Time <br />Upon request employees represented by the Association shall be <br />compensated for such overtime in compensatory time off to a maximum <br />accumulation of eighty (80) hours of compensatory time off. <br />7.11 Uniforms and Safetv Eouioment <br />Effective upon execution of this MOU, Police Officers, who have been so <br />employed for one (1) year or more with the City of Redwood City, shall be paid <br />an annual uniform allowance of Seven hundred dollars ($700.00). Such uniform <br />allowance shall be paid in June of each year on a separate check. <br />The City shall furnish, at its own expense, all safety equipment required by the <br />City, consisting of service pistol, rain gear, flashlight, handcuffs, PR -24 baton, <br />soft body armor threat level IIa, leather gear to include utility belt, chemical agent <br />holder, holster, handcuff case, ammunition holders, baton ring, and four (4) <br />keeper straps. Riot helmet and protective gas mask shall be provided by the City <br />as needed. Such famished safety equipment and any and all replacements <br />finnished by the City at any time shall remain the property of and under the <br />control of the City. <br />
