Human Services Assistance Program (continued) <br />Mary Petri, Executive Director of the Child Care Coordinating Council, replied <br />to questions relating to the budget of the agency, noting that funds requested <br />by Ms. Anderson would be for use in Redwood City. <br />Beverly Weber, Travelers Aid Society, requested $1,000 to be used at the San <br />Francisco airport and stated she has made the same request of other Peninsula <br />cities. Ms. Weber suggested the source of funds might be the hotel /motel tax. <br />Phil Bray, Director of Community Services, Service League of San Mateo County, <br />asked for $7,500 instead of the $5,000 recommended by HHCC. <br />Representative, San Mateo Women's Shelter, thanked Council for the full <br />$7,500 funding requested. <br />Eddie Mae Spi l l er, Emergency Hunger Fund, requested the allocation to her <br />agency be increased f rom the $12, 500 recommended by HHCC to the requested <br />$15,000, noting that there are no employee costs, all workers being <br />volunteers. <br />Mayor Greenalch described the Escuel a Hidalgo /Fair Oaks School which provides <br />a Saturday morni ng program at Fai r Oaks and suggested i t i s a wo rthy agency, <br />although HHCC denied its request for $1,500./ <br />Mayor Greenalch determined that a separate vote will be taken on each item <br />listed in the Human Services Asssistance Budget, with changes to be noted. <br />M /S: Claire /Buchan - Center for the Independence of the Disabled - $8,150.00. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />M/S : Stangel /Clai re - Community Education Center - $19,500.00 <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />Mayor Greenalch announced he will not vote on the item relating to Escuel a <br />H i d a l g o and 1 of t the chair. <br />Vice Mayor LaBerge took the chair during consideration of the following <br />moti cn . <br />M/S : Bury/Claire - Escuel a Hidalgo - to allocate $1,500 instead of nothing as <br />recommended by HHCC. <br />Carried by majority voice vote determined to be 5 -1, with Mayor Greenalch <br />abst ai ni ng. <br />Mayor Greenalch returned to the chair. <br />M /S: Stangel /Claire - Emergency Hunger Fund - $12,500.00 <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />M/S : Stangel /Bury - Friends for Youth - $2,500.00 - to allocate $2,500.00 <br />instead of nothing as recommended by HHCC. <br />Carried by majority voice vote determined to be 6 -1. <br />Budget.
