ORAL 00MMUNI CATIONS <br />a. Hanna Geha, 1817 Broadway, stated his confusion as to requirements that the <br />property where he wishes to do business be cleaned up bef ore he can obtain <br />any use permit. It was poi nted out that the property owner has fai 1 ed to <br />maintain the property in an acceptable way and that as a tenant, Mr. Geha <br />should deal with him. Councilman Bury offered to communicate with he owner <br />and attempt to solve the problem. <br />b. Steven Howard, 907 Katherine, commented on the recent Council decision <br />denying the appeal of DES with regard to Sequoia Professi of nal Building (See <br />Minutes of 7/11/88) . Dr. Howard suggested that Dr. Weber and his associates <br />had understood that a significant reduction in size of the building was the <br />only requirement. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilman Bury announced there will be a Corvette Car Club show in downtown <br />Redwood City on August 6, 1988. <br />b. Councilwoman Buchan reported on her attendance at the League of California <br />Cities Mayors and Councilmembers Executive Forum on July 20 -22, 1988, <br />commenting on the programs related to drug use. <br />c. Mayor Greenal ch reported on his attendance at the Forum also, commenting on <br />the new emphasis on child care and care of frail elders and also the issue of <br />development, by initiative, rather than plan which is taking place in <br />Cal iforni a. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />4.
