Matters of Council Interest (continued) <br />b. Councilwoman Buchan reported that Redwood City resident, Dave Presotto took <br />1st place at the BFI Truck Rodeo last weekend, and will be representing the <br />Pacific Region in Houston on November 12, 1988. <br />C. Councilwoman Buchan and the Council congratulated Peter Griffiths, <br />Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for receiving the <br />Reserve Peace Officer of the Year Award for Meritorious Service presented by <br />the Reserve Peace Officers Association. <br />MEMO 9/ 27 / 88 <br />d. Councilman Murray reported on the Regional Planning Commission meeting <br />he attended 9/22/88 to consider the Solid Waste Management Plan, and advised <br />that there will be no reference to a Waste Energy Plant in Redwood City in <br />the preliminary draft, nor toxic waste disposal which is covered by a <br />separate plan. <br />e. Mayor Greenalch introduced Assistant City Manager Robert Jean who reported <br />on Fleet Week activities including: October 14, awards to students who <br />participate in Fleet Week; October 15, Parade of Ship and air show by the <br />Blue Angels, and the Fleet Week Navy Ball; and October 16, noon to 4:00 p.m. <br />at Redwood City Port, Wharf 5, with Redwood City hosting a 95 foot Coast <br />Guard Cutter and an air /sea rescue helicoptor demonstration. <br />f. Mayor Greenalch announced that invitations are being sent out for the first <br />meeting of the City Center Action Committee to be held on October 5, 1988, <br />6:00 p.m. at the Fox Theatre, and thanked Vice Mayor LaBerge, Councilmen Bury <br />and Stangel for their efforts on behalf of this committee. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />1.
