Councilwoman Buchan reported that Redwood City resident, Dave Presotto took 1st place at the BFI Truck Rodeo last weekend, and will be representing the Pacific Region in Houston on November 12, 1988. C. Councilwoman Buchan and the Council congratulated Peter Griffiths, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services for receiving the Reserve Peace Officer of the Year Award for Meritorious Service presented by the Reserve Peace Officers Association. MEMO 9/ 27 / 88 d. Councilman Murray reported on the Regional Planning Commission meeting he attended 9/22/88 to consider the Solid Waste Management Plan, and advised that there will be no reference to a Waste Energy Plant in Redwood City in the preliminary draft, nor toxic waste disposal which is covered by a separate plan. e. Mayor Greenalch introduced Assistant City Manager Robert Jean who reported on Fleet Week activities including: October 14, awards to students who participate in Fleet Week; October 15, Parade of Ship and air show by the Blue Angels, and the Fleet Week Navy Ball; and October 16, noon to 4:00 p.m. at Redwood City Port, Wharf 5, with Redwood City hosting a 95 foot Coast Guard Cutter and an air /sea rescue helicoptor demonstration. f. Mayor Greenalch announced that invitations are being sent out for the first meeting of the City Center Action Committee to be held on October 5, 1988, 6:00 p.m. at the Fox Theatre, and thanked Vice Mayor LaBerge, Councilmen Bury and Stangel for their efforts on behalf of this committee. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. Legislative Committee Report 88 -3 Vice Mayor LaBerge, Chairperson of the Legislative Committee reported on the Committee meeting of September 21, 1988. Councilman Murray, Committee member, presented the first recommendation, Chairperson LaBerge, presented the second recommendation,and Councilman Bury presented the third and fourth recommendations.
