Members of the City Council, Planning Commission, Housing and Human Concerns <br />Committee addressed Housing Element issues. <br />5. Where will low- income housing be provided? <br />a) Redwood Shores <br />b) Rezoning residential areas for high density <br />c) Designation of vacant or underutilized Industrial and Commercial <br />properties. <br />d) Density bonus <br />6. How will low- income housing be funded? <br />a) Inclusionary Zoning <br />b) Developer Fees (residential and commercial) <br />c) Public subsidies, Federal, State, County <br />d) Land dedication or donation <br />7. The following ISSUES were identified for inclusion in future <br />considerations of the Housing Element <br />a) Current overcrowding <br />b) Changing constituency to singles, and single parents <br />c) Income Mix opportunities are declining <br />d) Affordability is only one component of housing choice <br />e) Greater emphasis on utilizing existing low to moderate income units <br />f) Workforce must have adequate housing <br />g) Commercial development policy - should it attract workforce <br />who cannot afford to live in present housing <br />h) Availability of services - water, sewer, fire, police, and <br />transportation <br />i) Redwood City should be a leader within a Regional approach to low <br />and moderate income housing <br />Members of the audience Mark Gibson, Thetis Pappas, C.E.
