388 <br />Affidaw;f <br />ofy <br />1'u bl ishiy;� <br />Redwood City,April 15th.igi8.8 oTclock P.M. <br />Regular meeting of the Board of Town Trustees held. <br />Upon roll call there were present Trustees,President E.H.Sampson,Geo.A.Merrill,Geo.W. <br />Mc.Nulty,Carl K.Mabie,H.C.Tuchsen,City Clerk W.A.Price. <br />Minutes of regular meeting held April Ist.1918 were read and on motion of Trustee <br />Mc.Nulty,seconded by Trustee Mabie same be approved as read,Motion Carried. <br />Affidavit of J.D.Hedge in the matter of publishing notice of hearing of the Pickwick <br />Stages Nomthern Division for permission to pass through the Town was on motion of Trustee <br />Merrill,seconded by Trustee Mc.Nulty same be received and filed.Motion Carried. <br />Trustee Merrill presents the following RESOLUTION and moves its adoption,Trustee <br />Mc Nulty seconds the motion, <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF REDWOOD CITY,SAN MATEO COUNTY, <br />CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE GRANTING OF A PERMIT TO THE PICKWICK STAGES:NORTHERN DIVISION <br />A CORPORATION,TO ENGAGE IN THE BUSINESS OF TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS AND EXPRESS PACKAGES <br />FOR HIRE OVER THE PUBLIC HIGHWAYS OF THE TOWN OF REDWOOD CITY,CALIFORNIA. <br />%i'2salirh oFt <br />GeanPihy THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF REDWOOD CITY,CALIFORNIA,DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS; - <br />THAT WHEREAS, the Pickwick Stages,Northern Division a corporation has petition the Board <br />PG/frriG/4 of Trustees for a permit to engage in the business of transporting passengers and express <br />Sfiage Co packages for hire over the public streets in the Town of Redwood City, and the said Board <br />having heretofore fixed this 15 day of Apri1,A.D.1918 at 8 P.M. o'clock as the time for <br />the hearing of the said petition, and it appearing to the Board that due notice of hearing <br />of the said petition has been given as required by Section 5 (c) of Chapter 213,Laws of <br />1917; and this Board having heard all the parties appearing at said hearing both for and <br />against said petition now,therefore, the said Board does hereby further ordain as follows; <br />(I) That the public convenience and necessity require the operation by the Pickwick <br />Stages,Northern Division,a corporation,of an automobile service as a common carrier of <br />passengers and express packages over the public highways of the Town of Redwood City here- <br />inafter designated and between the termini of Los Angeles,California and San Francisco <br />and intermediate points, <br />PROVIDING HOWEVER, that the rights and priviledges herein granted may not be assigned <br />or transferred unless the written consent of the Board of Trustees and of the -Railroad <br />Commission of the State of California be first had and obtained; <br />(2) That the Pickwick Stages,Northern Division, a corporation,be and they are hereby <br />granted the right to operate the cars and equipment set forth in EXHIBIT "B" annexed to <br />their petition on file herein;PROVIDED HOWEVER, that grantee may substitute one vehicle <br />for another upon filing a description of the substitutedvvehicle with the City Clerk and <br />PROVIDED FURTHER, that the substituted vehicle is at all times covered by the bond <br />hereinafter provided for; <br />( 3) All motorbuses operated under the permit herein granted shall be covered by a bond <br />furnished by a solvent and responsible surety company authorized to do business in the <br />State of California in the sum of tem thousand dollars conditioned that the grantee herein <br />shall pay all loss or damage that may result to any person or property from the negligent <br />operation of,or the defective construction of said motor bus or whick may arise or result <br />0 <br />i <br />
