<br />Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City held.
<br />Upon•roll call there were present Trustees; -President Carl K.Mabie,Gej.W.Mc.Nulty,
<br />J.C.Jones,Geo.A.Kreiss, M.E.Ryan,City Clerk W.A.Price.-
<br />Minutes of the regular meeting held October 7th.1918 were read and on motion of
<br />Trustee Jones,seconded by Trustee Sreiss same be approved as read,Motion Carried.
<br />Application of the Forester's Hall Assn.to hold a 3 o'clock dance in Forester's Rall
<br />Saturday evening November 2nd.1918;was on motion of Trustee Ryan,seconded By Trustee
<br />Mc.Nulty said permit be granted,same be 'to the satisfaction of the City Health Officer.
<br />Motion Carried.
<br />Moved by Trustee Lic.Nulty,seconded by Trustee Ryan,the Board approve the action of the
<br />Street Committee in the purchase of a,Ford Truck,I,Iotion Carried
<br />Trustee Idc.idulty presents the following Resolutmon, and moves its adoption,Trustee
<br />Kreiss seconds the motion.

<br />WHEREAS,at the general election to be held throughout the State of Oalifo•rnia,on
<br />Woverut
<br />her '5th -1918, Assembly Constitutional ln,,endment No.2 will appear upon the ballot as
<br />IO in number and under the title of
<br />"BOROUGH SYSTEK PER1,1ANENCY11; and
<br />m
<br />WHEREAS;It is of vital importance to the people of this County of San Lateo that said
<br />.amendment shall be adopted; and
<br />WHEREAS,In the event that the County of San Mateo shall ever be annexed to the City
<br />and County of San Francisco, the people of San Mateo County will be helplessly under the
<br />domination of .the voters of San Francisco,unless the Constitutional Amendment above
<br />mentioned become a portion of the organic law of the State of California; and
<br />WHEREAS, the purpose of said amendment is to guarantee that once a borough system of
<br />goverment is given to this,or any other County,it cannot afterwards be changed either
<br />govermenmentally or territorily without the consent of a majority of the voters of such
<br />borough, thereby legally assuring the autonomy of the borough; and
<br />WHEREAS, efforts have been made, and likely will be again attempted to annex the County
<br />of San Iviateo to the City and County of San Francisco; and
<br />PIHEREAS,we beleive that it is ifnperative that safeguards shall be created by adopting
<br />the Constitutional Amendment hereinbefore mentioned; and
<br />WHEREAS,in the event that said Constitutional Amendment is adopted, and subsequently
<br />our County should be annexed to San Francisco, we would be protected to the extent that we
<br />would have and enjoy self -goverment;
<br />NOVI THEREFORE BE IT
<br />RESOLVED; that we, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City do hereby express
<br />our approval of said Constitutional Amendment No.2 ( No.IO on Ballot,entitled "Borough
<br />System Permanency") and we do hereby request the voters of the State of California, and the
<br />voters of the County of Sam Mateo,and the voters of the Town of Redwood City particularly
<br />to Mote for, and in favor of the adopt&on of said Cons titutionaliAmendment at the general
<br />election to be hlid throughout the State of California on Novemher 5th.1918.
<br />RESOLVED,That the best interest of the County of San Mateo,of its people,its highways,
<br />its schools,its public buildings,its public charges and dependments,will be subserved by the
<br />adoption of said Constitution Amendment,
<br />Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City at a regular
<br />meeting of said Board held on the 2Ist.day of October,1918,by the following vote,
<br />Ayes and in favor of the passage of the foregoing Resolution,Trustees,
<br />M.E.Ryan,Geo.W.Me.idulty,J.C.Jones,Geo.A.Kreiss,Carl K.Mabie.,
<br />Noes and against the passage of the foregoing Resolution,Trustees,None.Absent Trustees None.
