<br />Sectioa 1. During the period of
<br />the epidemic of the so-called "Span-
<br />ish influenza," which is now preval-
<br />ent in the Town of Redwood City, ,
<br />every person appearing on the public
<br />streets, in any public place, or In any
<br />assemblage of persons or in any place
<br />where two or more persons are con- ,
<br />gregated, except in homes where only
<br />two members of the family are pres-
<br />ent, and every person engaged in the ,
<br />sale, handling or distribution of food-
<br />stuffs or wearing apparel, shall wear .
<br />a mask or covering, except when par-
<br />taking of meals, over the nose and
<br />mouth consisting of four -ply material
<br />known as butter cloth or of fine -mesh '
<br />gauze, at the four corners of which
<br />are attached tape or other fastening,
<br />so that the mask or covering can be
<br />made to firmly cover the nose and
<br />mouth; said mask to be not less than ;
<br />five inches in width and seven in ,
<br />length.
<br />Sectio. i'2. Every person who shall !
<br />violate any of the provisions of see- '
<br />tion 1 of this resolution shall be deem
<br />ed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall
<br />be punished by a flee of not less than
<br />five ($6) dollars or more than one
<br />hundred ($100) dollars, or by im-
<br />prisonment in the county Jail for a
<br />period not exceeding ten days, or by
<br />both such fine and imprisonment.
<br />Section 3. This resolution shall
<br />be in force and take effect immed-
<br />lately and shall remain in effect until
<br />repealed,
<br />Section 4. This Resolution shall
<br />be published once in the Times -Ga-
<br />zette, a weekly newspaper published
<br />and printed and circulated in said
<br />Town.
<br />Passed and adopted by the Board
<br />of Trustees of the town of Redwood
<br />City at a special meeting of said
<br />Board duly called and held on the +
<br />10th day of January, 1919, by the
<br />following vote:
