I <br />-- _ - - <br />45 0, <br />RESOLUTIONS OFFICIALLY NAMING <br />MEZES PLAZA <br />WHEREAS, S. M. MEZES was one of the original patentees of the Rancho de las Pulgas <br />in this County of San Mateo, and extending from San Mateo Creek to San Francisquito Creek, <br />andincluding all the territory now embraced within the Town of Redwood City, and which town <br />was originally named "MEZE8VILLE11; and <br />WHEREAS, by the original map of Mezesville, now on file in the office of the <br />Recorder of the County of San Mateo, there was dedicated to public use two blocks of land, <br />one now known as California Square, and a seconds bounded by Howland Street, Allerton Street, <br />Standish Street and Warren Street, which has not heretofore been officially named;. <br />NOW THEREFORE RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of Redwood City that in memory of, <br />and a continuing memorial to, said S. M. Mews, that said last mentioned square on said map <br />and so bounded be, and the same is hereby, officially named and shall hereafter be known <br />and designated as "MEZES PLAZA"; and <br />RESOLVED, that a copy of these resolutions be entered at length in the minutes of <br />this board, and certified copies thereof be delivered to Mrs. Carmelita Mezes Wynne and Dr. <br />Sidney Edward Mezes, President of the College of the City of New York, surviving childre-A <br />of said S. M. Mezes. <br />Ayes: C. K. Mabie, A. E. Monteith, G. W. McNulty, H. A. Beeger, <br />Noes: None. <br />Absent, Trustees, M. E. Ryan. <br />Affidavit of Jas. D. Hedge and John Isaac in the matter of publishing and affidavit of <br />W. A. Price, City Clerk in the matter posting near Council Chamber door in the matter of calL- <br />ing for sealed bids for street improvements under Resolution of Intention No. H-13, and <br />Resolution of Intention No. H. - 14, was on motion of Trustee Mabie, seconded by Trustee <br />McNulty, said affidavits be received and filed.
