�tj ly'5� <br />$ee f. <br />433 <br />MINCTES OF REGULAR`MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 15, 1935 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, C. G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty, City Clerk, B. E.'Myers. Absent: <br />R. N. Jones. <br />The minutes of the meeting of July 1, 1935, were approved on motion of Councilman Fletcher, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />Dr. D. F. Brown again appeared before the Council concerning the request for special permit to <br />build a medico -dental building at the corner of Clinton Street and Broadway. A letter was <br />read from the Planning Commission recommending that the Council change the ordinance <br />covering buildings permissible in a second class residential zone to include medico -dental <br />buildings. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Eva, there was intro- <br />duced an amendment to Ordinance No. 251 which would change the reading of that ordinance <br />to allow the construction of buildings such as the one desired by these three doctors. <br />Gordon Seeley, place of business on Broadway, spoke before the Council on the question of signs <br />on the sidewalk and requested that the ordinance concerning such signs be changed to provide <br />the owners of property less restriction. Mr. Seeley was assured that there would be no <br />discrimination against him and that if he were requested to remove signs not permissible <br />under the ordinance, tither property owners would likewise be requested to do the same. <br />James Flynn, of 139 Redwood Avenue, asked the Council if something could be done to eliminate <br />some insanitary conditions along that street, and to cause the removal of certain orientals <br />living -,at 204 Redwood Avenue. The matter was finally referred to the City Manager and <br />Health Officer. <br />Al Davies called the attention of the Council to a special meeting in Sacramento, Friday <br />morning, at which time there is going to be some adjustment in the budget affecting <br />yt1 <br />highways, and suggested that someone from Redwood City should be present to protect the <br />City's interest insofar as the widening of E1 Camino Real would be concerned. The City <br />Manager was asked to get in touch with Col. Skaggs and if necessary go to Sacrament to be <br />present at the meeting. <br />H. J. Black spoke about the parking of cars near the corner of Main and Maple Streets, and the <br />matter was referred to the Chief of Police. <br />Dr. J. N. Blood asked whether or not automobile parking should be parallel or oblique in the <br />residential section. He was told that it should be parallel, and the matter was referred <br />0 <br />to the Chief of Police to. investigate the situation, particularly in front of the apartments, <br />Duane near Broadway. <br />A letter was read from Frank V. Kington, Redwood City Attorney, in which he informed the Council <br />that he had taken the place of Norman Menifee as Counsel for Mr. and Mrs. Ruellan, and <br />demanded that the Council provide for the cancellation of the agreement originally entered <br />into and the payment of the complete judgment. The letter was referred to the City Attorney. <br />R. H. Moulton & Company, San Francisco, offered the City $3000 in $250 bonds, Redwood City <br />in <br />131 <br />
