LSIR3 <br />WHEREAS the Airline Bus Company has applied to the Railroad <br />Commission of this State for a certificate of public convenience and <br />necessity for the operation of a bus line between San Francisco and <br />Los Angeles via Coalinga and Taft and passing through Redwood City <br />via Broadway and Middlefield Road, and <br />WHEREAS the granting of such a certificate by the Railroad <br />Commission would afford an entirely new means of transportation be- <br />tween Redwood City and other cities and towns in San Mateo County <br />and the San Joaquin Valley towns of Coalinga, Taft and other cities <br />and"towns not now served by rail or bus transportation and would <br />thereby tend to bring persons from said San Joaquin Valley towns to <br />Redwood City and nearby places, and <br />WHEREAS such competitive bus line will tend to improve <br />service and decrease transportation charges in the carriage of <br />passengers, express matter and newspapers, . <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the <br />City of Redwood City endorse said application as comporting with <br />greater public convenience and necessity; FURTHER RESOLVED that Paul <br />A. McCarthy, a member of said City Council, be and he is hereby <br />authorized to appear before the Railroad Commission`of this State <br />to urge the granting of such certificate; <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, certified <br />by the Clerk hereof, be filed with the Railroad Commission of this <br />State. <br />William Vielhauer, of The Redwood City Tribune, reported concerning his Los Angeles trip with <br />Clifford Walk and left the impression that the use of the OlDea property for airport seemed <br />out of the question at present. On motion of Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher, the two men were given a vote of thanks for their efforts. <br />Councilman Fletcher stated he wished to go on record as being against any form of gambling in <br />Redwood City, and proposed that the Council commend The Tribune for a certain editorial <br />concerning the gambling situation, in the County. Motion seconded by Councilman McNulty <br />and carried. <br />The departmental reports were ordered filed. <br />The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman <br />Christensen. <br />Adjournment. <br />BEM:MR <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 92, 1935 <br />8:00 P.M. <br />• P0. <br />City Clerk <br />Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, C. G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. Mcnulty, City Clerk, B. E. <br />Myers. Absent: None. <br />The ninutes of the meeting of July 15, 1935, were approved on notion of Councilman McCarthy, <br />u seconded by Councilman McNulty. <br />There was presented by Walter S. Sterling, 1125 Sing Street, Redwood City, a bill for damages to <br />a Graham -Paige automobile resulting from a collision at the intersection of Hudson Street and <br />Jefferson.Avenue, April 18, with City Ford truck driven by George Hopkins. The bill was <br />referred to the City Attorney for attention. <br />
