MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 6, 1936 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />' Upon roll call, the following Councilmen were present: Mayor, C. G. Lambert, L. C. Christensen, <br />'f! <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, R. X. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, Geo. W. McNulty and City Clerk, <br />B. E. Myers: Absent: None. <br />The minutes of the meeting of March 16, 1936, were approved on motion of Councilman McNulty, <br />seconded by Councilman Eva. <br />After filing affidavit of publication, Ordinance No. 371, regulating permits to sell or solicit <br />for the sale of any goods in Redwood City, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman Christensen, was unanimously adopted. <br />The Burlingame Chamber of Commerce, by its president, C. S. Manwell, asked that the Redwood <br />City Council be represented at a meeting in Burlingame, April 10, to ,join in a discussion <br />relative to an organization to secure proper recognition on the -part of San Francisco in <br />its proposed rapid transit system. It was decided to have a representative attend, and <br />Councilman Fletcher was appointed. <br />Dan Flynn, representing the owners of a number of lots in Redwood Park, asked the Council if <br />arrangements could be made to have the engineering department help in surfacing the <br />streets in order to make the lots more salable. It was decided, on motion of Councilman <br />Christensen, seconded by Councilman Eva, that the City engineering department set the <br />grades for the streets, and that Mr. Flynn, et al, be allowed the use of the City's <br />i <br />f roller and operator. <br />ii A group of Redwood City barbers submitted to the Council a proposed ordinance regulating the <br />I! <br />hours of opening and closing of barber shops. On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded <br />by Councilman McNulty, the ordinance was introduced, with Councilman Christensen voting Ito°. <br />A communication from the San Mateo Typographical Union No. 624 asking the Council to patronize <br />home industry by requiring the use of the Typographical Union label on all printed matter <br />purchased by the City of Redwood City was laid over until the next meeting. <br />In a communication to the Council, Stone & Youngberg offered to sell to the City 1915 Act <br />�y Q <br />Bonds, par value $5,3002 for net figure of $4,772,50, and on motion of Councilman <br />t �l <br />Christensen, seconded by Councilman Eva, the City Treasurer was authorized to purchase <br />the bonds and draw the necessary warrant. <br />George W. Paulsen, Sales Manager for George S. Paddleford, Inc., asked permission of the <br />Council to set up a (fused car" lot at the north corner of James Street and E1 Camino <br />Real as it was necessary for his firm to move from its present location. As this <br />seemed to be a matter for the Planning Commission to pass on first, on motion of <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Eva, it was referred to that Body, with <br />�! the understanding that the Council would approve if recommended by the Planning <br />I <br />+ Commission. <br />�i <br />The claim of Lucile K. Gillis was brought up for further consideration, but as her attorney, <br />Mr. Wayne Millington, did not wish to compromise on the figure suggested by the Council, <br />.I <br />I <br />
