<br />Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed 44 resolutions, as per sample
<br />below, as prepared by the City Attorney ordering foreclosure on certain property
<br />because of unpaid assessmerits.Carried.
<br />RESOLUTION ORDERING FORECLOSURE OF STREET IMPROVEMENT
<br />.. ASSESSMENT NO. 91B
<br />UNDER RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. J-10
<br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the City
<br />Attorney be and he is hereby ordered and directed to commence and prosecute
<br />to conclusion an action in the Superior Court of the State of California, in
<br />and for the County of San Mateo,.to foreclose the delinquent street assess-
<br />ments under the "Improvement Bond Act of 1915" of the State of California,
<br />upon the -following described real property situated in said City of Redwood
<br />City, to -wit:
<br />Northwesterly portion of Lot 16, Block 7, New High School Acres,
<br />fronting 40 feet on -St. Francis Avenue, as shown on that certain
<br />map entitled "New High School Acres" Redwood City, California,
<br />filed in the office of the County Recorder of San Mateo County,
<br />June 25, 1923, in Volume 11 of Maps at pages 36, 37 and 39.•
<br />Mr. L. G. Grozinger appeared before the Council to represent the Pacific Portland Cement
<br />Company and the Morgan Oyster Company and discussed the question of annexation of
<br />the property owned by these companies and stated to the Council quite definitely
<br />that both companies opposed to any such annexation.
<br />After ordering the filing of affidavit of City Clerk that he had mailed sample ballots
<br />and precinct cards and had posted copy of ordinance at polling places, Councilman
<br />Eva, seconded by Councilman Christensen, and unanimously carried, proposed adoption
<br />of resolution declaring canvass of returns, and result of special municipal bond
<br />election held December 9, 1936, and reading as follows:
<br />RESOLUTION
<br />DECLARING CANVASS OF'RETURNS, AND RESULT OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND
<br />ELECTION HELD DECEMBER 91 1936-
<br />WHEREAS1 the Council of the City of Redwood City by Ordinance,No. 396
<br />duly called and ordered held in said City of Redwood City an election on the 9th
<br />day of December, 1936, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters and
<br />electors thereof the following proposition, to -wit:
<br />PROPOSITION: Shall the City of Redwood City incur a bonded
<br />Indebtedness in the principal sum of $350;000
<br />in accordance with the provisions of the ordi-
<br />nance calling the election at which this proposition is -sub-
<br />mitted, for the object.and purpose of acquiring the following
<br />municipal improvement of said City, to -wit: A general improve-
<br />ment fund to be.used for the purpose•of acquiring other general
<br />obligation bonds of the City of. Redwood City or bonds issued by
<br />or for districts'therein, or bonds issued for street work or
<br />other public improvements in the City of Redwood City under any
<br />act of the Legislature of the State of California providing for
<br />the performance of street work or other public improvements or
<br />for the issuance'of bonds to represent or be secured by assess-
<br />ments levied for such work -or improvements; such general im-
<br />provement fund to be created under and subject to the provisions
<br />of an.act. of the Legislature of the State of California approved
<br />July 20, 1935, being Chapter 774 of the Statutes of 1935?
<br />ANff WHEREAS, said ordinance calling and ordering said election was duly
<br />published as required by law and by said ordinance, as appears from the affidavit
<br />of Vera Clements of the Redwood City Tribune on file in the office of the City
<br />Clerk of said City of Redwood City; and
<br />WMEREAS, it. appears that said special election was held in accordance
<br />with law and with said call, on the said 9th day of December, 1936, as aforesaid,
<br />and that the polls for said election were kept open during the time required by
<br />law, and that said election was held anis conducted, and the votes thereat re-
<br />ceived and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, determined and declared,
<br />all as provided by the laws of the State of California, and by'said ordinance; and
