Walter has paid to the City of Redwood City <br />the sum of eight hundred and twenty-five dollars ($825.00) <br />and has asked me to accept it as payment for delinquent taxes <br />on his property. <br />"The following is the descriptions and the amounts due <br />at the present time: <br />Portion Lots 1-2 Block 2, Range B (Arb. 36o) <br />Delinquent taxes $650.18 <br />Penalties -Costs <br />Lot 44, Block 1, Sub A <br />Wellesley Park (Arb. 25/4+) <br />Delinquent taxes 139.14+ <br />Penalties -Costs <br />$799.32 <br />$109-45 <br />2 <br />136.02 <br />Total $925.34+ <br />"Am I authorized to cancel the penalties in the amount <br />of $100.344?" <br />On motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Hohn, the Council <br />instructed the Tax Collector not to waive any part of the taxes or penalties <br />and to inform Mr. Walter that his $925 payment would be applied against the <br />total amount as he might indicate. <br />Miss Louise G. Schmidt, for several property owners on Valota Road, addressed the <br />Council further about the payment of that cross street, explaining the difficulty <br />of using this street in the winter time due to the lack of proper surfacing. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Christensen, the <br />matter was referred to the City Manager with instructions to try to get a <br />right of way through Lot 4+5 of the re -subdivision and to arrange, if possible, <br />with the Highway Commission to have Valota Road established as a major street <br />in Redwood City. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Jones, authority was given <br />to Perry Bygdnes, Roscoe Wyatt, and Frank DePatta to arrange a suitable float <br />for the Harbor Opening Festival at a cost not to exceed $100, the amount so <br />spent to be taken from the Publicity Fund. <br />On motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Jones, the Chamber of <br />Commerce was instructed to place a page ad to cost $90 in the Tribune tabloid <br />for the county fiesta and also a page ad to cost not more than $90 in the <br />special number for the Harbor Opening Festival with the understanding that <br />the cost be taken from the Publicity Fund. <br />After filing affidavit of publication, on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty, Ordinance No. 397 was formally adopted. <br />After filing affidavit of publication, on motion of Councilman Christensen, seconded <br />by Councilman Hohn, Tax Ordinance No. 399 establishing the amount of money to <br />be raised by taxes for the fiscal year 1937-38 was adopted. <br />
