J <br />i <br />3 <br />3,57 <br />I <br />1 <br />CJI <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 3, 1939 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following Councilmen were present: Councilmen L. C. Christensen, <br />J. M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher, Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, G. W. McNulty, and City Clerk <br />B. E. Myers. Tardy, Mayor Paul A. McCarthy, who came in later. <br />In the absence of Mayor McCarthy at the opening of the meeting, Councilman Eva was <br />chosen Chairman Pro Tem. <br />The minutes of the meeting of December 20 were approved on motion of Councilman Christensen, <br />seconded by Councilman Hohn. <br />The City Tax Collector submitted applications for restaurant licenses beginning January, <br />1939, and on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Hohn, applications <br />were granted as shown below: <br />Redwood Diner <br />Millbrae Dairy Agcy <br />William Havey <br />Greg's Cafe <br />Polka Dot Cafe <br />Fat Boy Barbecue Cabins <br />Sequoia Cafe <br />M & M <br />Rainbow Inn <br />C. S. 101" be again placed on E1 Camino Real, <br />omitting the word "Alternate" as at present. Unanimously carried. <br />The City Assessor called attention to request of the Veterans' Welfare Board for can- <br />cellation of taxes on Lots 20 in Block 29 and 13 in Block 42, Redwood Highlands. <br />It was established that these lots were owned by private persons until July, 1937, <br />when they were taken over by the Veterans' Board. It was accordingly decided, on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Hohn, that the taxes for the <br />fiscal year 1937-39 should not be cancelled, and the Tax Collector was instructed <br />to make collection of the amounts shown on the records. <br />n <br />
