The committee for study of termite control and prevention, consisting of C. L. Dimmitt,
E. A. Fletcher, and Julius Smith, made a report with two recommendations; first,
that the present building ordinance be amended by the insertion of certain pro -
and
visions affecting all new wood frame buildings•, secondly, that the Council study
i
;i
the desirability of employing a man whose principal function would be the control
and extermination of termites. No action was taken concerning the employment of
this man, but on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, the
City Attorney was instructed to draw either a new ordinance, or an amendment to
the present building ordinance, to carry out the recommendations made by the com-
mittee.
There was some discussion concerning the exemption accorded to non -veterans who are
buying property through, and from, the Veterans Welfare Board. The City Tax
;i
t,
Collector was asked to confer with the County District Attorney and County Assessor
about such exemptions and make any report or recommendation thought best.
The departmental reports were ordered filed.
The approved claims were ordered paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by
= Councilman Fletcher.
9
.
City Clerk
BEM:3AS
l
i
t.
