Following this, Council— <br />man McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, proposed the adoption of the follow— <br />ing resolution: Carried. <br />"DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS, AND RESULT OF SPECIAL <br />MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION HELD SEPTEMBER 27, 1938. <br />"'WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City by Ordinance No. 41.3 duly <br />called and ordered held in said City of Redwood City an election on the 27th day <br />of September, 1938, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters and <br />electors thereof the following propositions, to wit: <br />PROPOSITION No. l: Shall the City <br />City Hall of Redwood <br />Impmremeats City incur a <br />bonded in- <br />debtedness in the principal <br />sum of $52,000 in accordance <br />- with the provisions of the ordi= <br />mance calling the election at <br />which this proposition is sub- <br />mitted, for the object and pur- <br />pose of acquiring, constructing <br />and completing the following <br />municipal improvement, to wit: <br />Additions and betterments to <br />the existing City Hall to pro- <br />vide additional facilities for <br />housing city offices, including <br />improvement of the grounds <br />and 'all furniture, fixtures, ap. <br />paratus, equipment and other <br />works, properties and struc- <br />tures necessary or convenient <br />for City Hall purposes? <br />PROPOSITION No. 2: Shall the City <br />Llkm of Redwood <br />City incur a <br />bonded indebtedness in the <br />principal sum of $45,000 in ac. <br />cordance with the provisions <br />of the ordinance calling the <br />election at which this proposi- <br />tion is submitted, for the object <br />and purpose of acquiring, con. <br />structing and completing the <br />following municipal improve. <br />ment, to wit: A new main li. <br />brary building, including im. <br />provement of the grounds, all <br />furniture, fixtures, apparattis <br />and other works, properties <br />and structures necessary or <br />convenient for a public library <br />for the City of Redwood City? <br />AND 'WHEREAS, said ordinance calling and ordering said election was duly <br />published as required by law and by said ordinance, as appears from the affi— <br />davit of Bernice Gardner on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City <br />of Redwood City; and <br />'WHEREAS, it appears that said special election was held in accordance <br />with law and with said call, on the said 27th -day of September, 1938, as afore— <br />said, and that the polls for said election,were kept open during the time re— <br />quired by law, and that said election was held and conducted, and the votes <br />thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof ascertained, deter— <br />mined and declared, all as provided by the laws of the State of California, <br />and by said ordinance; and <br />'WHEREAS, on this day, to wit, Monday, the 3d day of October, 1938, at <br />the hour of eight o'clock P.
