464 <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 2, 1939 <br />8:00 P. M. <br />Upon roll call the following were present: Councilmen H. F. Anderson, E. A. Fletcher, <br />Wm. Hohn, R. N. Jones, P. A. McCarthy, G. W. McNulty, Mayor L. C. Christensen, <br />and City Clerk B. E. Myers. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter concerning bids for the construction <br />of Public Library and recommended that the contract be awarded to the G. W. Williams <br />Company of Burlingame. <br />"The following bids were received for the construction of the Public <br />Library, P. W. A. Project No. 1992-F: <br />1) <br />Moore and Roberts <br />$739763 <br />2) <br />Central California Construction <br />Company <br />80,346 <br />3) <br />G. W. Williams Co. <br />69,290 <br />4) <br />W. C. Tait, Inc. <br />78,400 <br />5) <br />R. A. McLean & Co. <br />84,900 <br />6) <br />F. J. Reilly, Co. <br />710431 <br />I recommend that the contract be awarded, subject to approval of the <br />Public Works Administration, to the low bidder, G. W. Williams Company, <br />in the amount of $69,290, subject to deductive alternates Item 3a <br />substituting rock lath and pl aster in place of metal lath and plaster <br />in the amount of $800; and 3b providing main entrance doors of bronze <br />Kalamein in the amount of $300, making the net amount of contract <br />$6g,19o. <br />This exceeds the original estimate of construction cost by Mr. Mitchell, <br />but is within the estimates allowed for extras and contingencies.° <br />Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman McNulty, proposed the adoption of resolution <br />awarding the contract to the G. W. Williams Company as proposed by Mr. Dimmitt <br />with the understanding that the three lowest bids would be retained and the <br />Clerk authorized to return the checks of the unsuccessful bidders. Carried. <br />The City Manager submitted the following letter covering bids received for the <br />construction of a City Hall. <br />"The following bids were received for the constructim of the <br />City Hall addition, P. W. A. Project No. 1991-F: <br />1) Moore and Roberts $939900 <br />2) Central California Construction <br />Company 84,727 <br />G. W. Williams Co. 84,997 <br />Carl H. Swenson & Co. 85,750 <br />5) C. A. McLean & Co. 911900 <br />6) Frank J. Reilly Co. 789831 <br />I recommend that the contract be awarded to Frank J. Reilly Company, <br />the low bidder in the amount of $79,931, subject to deductive <br />alternates Item No. 3a substituting rock lath and plaster in place <br />of metal lath and plaster, $1200, thus making the net total of <br />bid $77,631, subject to approval of the P. W. A.° <br />Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Anderson, proposed adoption of resolution <br />awarding the contract for the construction of the City Hall to Frank J. Reilly <br />Co, with instructions to the Clerk to retain the three lowest bids and to return <br />the checks of the unsuccessful bidders. <br />0 <br />i <br />i <br />
