6 <br />Department and Health Department for report at the next meeting. <br />Also discussed in connection with this matter was the failure of <br />+ the Health Department to have a representative present at Council <br />meetings and the City Clerk was directed to so inform the Health <br />Officer. <br />Permission to conduct a Rummage Sale at 872 Main Street on September <br />1=5 inclusive, was granted St. Peter's Episcopal Church on motion <br />of Councilman Britschgi seconded by Councilman Werder. <br />Communication from the Redwood City Commuter's Club relative to the <br />appointment of the City Manager and suggesting the -qualifications <br />of applicants be published, was read and ordered filed. Follow- <br />ing this, Councilman Anderson offered a motion that the time for <br />receiving applications for the position of City Manager be set <br />at 8:00 P.M., September 8th,and that the Council adjourn from <br />the September 8th meeting to 9:00 P.M., September 1l+th for the <br />purpose of appointing a City Manager. Motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Werder and carried unanimously. <br />Communication from the Planning Commission relative to a meeting <br />with the County Planning Commission on August 21, 1944 was <br />read and ordered filed. <br />Matter of increasing water pressure and supply for consumers in the <br />vicinity of Se-Floch Way and Sylvan Way, Emerald Lake, was <br />ordered placed on the Agenda for the next meeting and the Clerk <br />was directed to determine if priorities could be obtained for <br />construction of a new 2 -inch main to serve this area. Also <br />discussed was the number of wells owned by the City and their - <br />condition. <br />Communication from the Southern Pacific Company advising that protection <br />for the Jefferson & Maple Streetcrossings was now awaiting <br />authority for the expenditure of funds was read and this matter <br />was ordered placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 457 (Civilian Defense Ordinance) <br />was introduced subject to Amendment of Section 2 thereof, on <br />motion of Councilman Anderson seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Ordered placed on the Agenda for the next meeting were the matters of <br />adopting new blackout ordinance and physical examinations for <br />certain City employees. <br />0 <br />Cry <br />
