Councilman FletchPT offered resolution to <br />reveal ordinnnces, rQferred to in Resolution of ?"^.r Council."•Councilor^n , <br />rmstron5_r stated that seven thinzs rere to by considered in this con- <br />vection and in;uirpd if City lttornpy McOlrtny h -d r__rPn^red an ordinance. <br />oil <br />The latter replied in the affirmative. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved the introduction of the ordinance, seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi and carried unanimously. <br />Councilman Armstrong stated that the next thing to be considered was dis- <br />position of the funds referred to in the War Council resolution, the $1,000 <br />War Bond Series "G", and the $108 in cash, explaining that the entire amount <br />represented was secured from salvage drives, and none of it from funds <br />appropriated for operation of civilian def6nse. Small amounts had been <br />exnended from time to time by the Civilian Defense or'gar Council during the <br />period of its operation. The War Council considered that at the proper time, <br />some disposition should be made of it that would best aid the war effort. <br />Councilman Armstrong said he mentioned these facts because he felt it would <br />be inadvisable for this money to revert to the city's General Fund. He there- <br />upon offered n motion tnat this fund of cash and securities ae anpronTiated <br />to a. "Service Alen's Emergencv Fund", ex,-la.ining thnt there were occasions <br />.hen service men coming to Red ... ood City rfere in need of e fpz, dollars to <br />tide them over an emergency. The Community Chest h. -s no such r purpose as <br />no request was m -de on the Chest to Astnblisn such a fund. The Chest, has, <br />however, indic-ted willingness to be .responsible for disbursing nominal <br />i <br />asounts in such emergency cc.ses, on request of official agencies appxoving <br />�I <br />such disbursement.
