161 <br />Councilman'Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, filing of affidavit <br />of publication of ordinance annexing Eaton Avenue Villas. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, adoption of or- <br />dinance annexing Eaton Avenue Villas. On roll call, ordinance was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />City Manager Blom recommended the appointment of John H. Poole to the unexpired <br />term of George Rose on the Recreation Commission which ends April 12, 1947, <br />and Horace M. Scales to the unexpired term of Mrs. Kenneth Bowen on the <br />Recre„tion Commission which expires April 12, 1949. Councilman Armstrong <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Mcklulty, that the recommendations of the <br />city manager be anroved for the terms specified. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Managex Blom advised that the telephone system is in need of improvement <br />and that the telephone company can noir install a switchboard which rill in - <br />elude five trunk lines and which will result in the saving of eight or <br />nine dollars a month for telephone service. It ;rill be necessary to hire <br />an rdditional employee to operc:te the switchboard and do routine typing. <br />He recomn ended the installation of the switchboard and that he be author- <br />ized to hire an operator rt a s^]ary rrnrre of $110 to 112b a month ex- <br />clusive of the bonus. He explcined that it ­0uld be a civil service <br />position and thct srecifications vere being prepared.
