NOES: Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Councilmen: NONE
RALPH S. DODGE
APPROVED:
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
City Clerk
Councilman Armstrong stated that he had no wish to sell bonds which will not be
used for a long time but he did feel that some of the projects which had been
voted upon in the last election should be begun. Upon the advice of City
Manager Blom that a maximum of $280,000 could be expended•on these projects
for the balance of the year, he moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, that
$200,000 of bonds be sold at this time with the hope and expectation that
this sum can be used in this year. Motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Blom reported that Beech Street Between El Camino Real and Stambaugh
Street is in good condition as far as a temporary street is concerned. The
street can be improved to a permanent status by construction of concrete
curbs and gutters and a minimum.amount of base construction. Councilman
Britechgi was of the opinion that this street and Lathrop Street should be
put in a condition comparable to the other streets in the city, and moved,
seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the City Manager be instructed to
bring in a report at the nest meeting as to what would be required to make
this a permanent street. Motion passed unanimously,.
Councilman Armstrong stated that he believed the ordinance allowing chickens in
the first residential district should be rescinded but that in view of the
present scarcity of eggs and.meat that perhaps the effective date of the
ordinance should be put ahead and suggested April 30th for the effective
date and Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson, that
the matter be placed on the agenda for the next meeting. Motion passed
unanimously;
Communication was received from the Redwood City Planning Commission with several
recommendations.- 1. Application of M. Maciocco -to subdivide Lot 8 in'Blook
12, Oak Knoll Manor, be granted subject to a modification of the subdivision
requested, the modification being the subdivision of the easterly two-thirds
of Lot 8 into two lots. 2. Application of W. B. Lensman to raise chickens
commercially at 1500 Gordon Avenue be denied. 3. Application of John Robb
and others to extend Hamilton Street to Bayshore Highway and to Pennsylvania
Avenue be deferred until it can be considered in connection with the master
plan. 4. Application of Mrs. Thelma Baer to rezone Lots 6 and 7, Block 4,
Range °C°, Mezesville from second residential to business zone.Action
to be deferred to allow for a hearing at the next meeting of the Planning
Commission. 5. Proposal to rezone property on both sides of Middlefield
Road from Bradford Street to Bayshore Highway deferred for consideration
! in connection with the master plan. Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by
205
