 242 1' ----------- ...
Motion was made by Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Fletcher, to ap-
prove minutes as mailed. Under the question, Councilman Granger advised
that it was his opinion that paragraph 3, page 3 of the minutes in regard to
Charter amendments should be corrected so that neither the City Attorney nor
City Engineer snall be ex -officio members of the Planning Commission. It was
also his opinion that in regard to the amendment to the Charter pertaining
to the employment of an attorney by the Port Commission, it should not be
designated "tariff attorney" but that the Port Commissi.on should have the
right to hire an attorney other than the City Attorney. The maker of the
motion changed his motion to approve the minutes as corrected. Motion
passed unanimously.
Application for dance permit was received from Court Madrone No. 158, F. of A.,
for benefit dances to be conducted Saturdays, March 9th and 16th until 12;00
midnight. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Fletcher that
the permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously.
Application
was received
from Margaret
and Johnnie
Bogolio for
permission to con-
duct a
restaurant at
1839 Bayshore
Boulevard..
They have
a State license for
on -sale beer and wine. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman
Anderson, that the permitbe granted subject to the approval of the Health
and Police Departments. Motion passed unanimously.
Application was received from the Redwood Nash Motors to conduct a used car lot
in connection with an auto agency at 1000-1026 El Camino Real. Councilman
Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Britechgi, that the permit be
granted, Motion passed unanimously.
Communication was received from Eugene F. Hoffman accepting reappointment to the
Board of Review for a six year term, or until January 15, 1952. Communi-
cation was ordered filed.
Communication was received from Ted Seufert, Jr., in behalf of his client, Dr.
Ludmila V. Locey, who is purchasing an apartment house at 115, 115A, 117
and 119 Duane Street, and who is requesting permission to convert the
apartment into doctors' offices. City Manager Blom and City Attorney
McCarthy advised that such offices are allowed in the second residental
district, which is the district in which this property is located, but that
plans must be presented to the Council before a permit is issued to con-
struct such a building. Councilman Armstrong moved that the letter be re-
ferred to the writer with instructions that the Council will consider the
4
application upon presentation of plans. Mr. Seufert was in the audience
and advised the Council that his client wanted to be assured that she would
be able to convert this property into medical offices before purchasing it.
Dr. Locey also appeared and asked that she have this assurance. Mayor
Hilton and other members of the Council expressed the opinion the ordinance
assured that the property could be put to the desired use if plans were
accepted by the Council and it was thought that the Council would approve
suitable plans. There was no second to Councilman Armstrong's motion.
9,.
v
