315 FITZPATRICK RESIDENCE ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS. Recommendations from the Building Inspector I and from.the Fire Department that this old building at 2414 Broadway be razed, were read. Councilman Granger moved that the Building Inspector be directed to post notices to abate the nuisance, as the first step in the condemnation proceedings. Councilman Holmquist seconded the motion, which carried. { MAYOR HILTON REPORTED that -the Catholic Church is building an addition on Grand, Fulton and Catherine Streets. They have applied for permission to change the setback on Fulton Street from 25' to 151. Inasmuch as they own the whole block, and no other property owner is involved, the Building Inspector recommended that the permission be granted. Councilman Granger moved the recommendation of the .Building Inspector be 1� accepted. Councilman McNulty seconded.the motion which carried. CHAMBERLAIN SIGN. At the suggestion of the Mayor, the City Attorney was instructed to write to Mr. Chamberlain directing him to remove the sign in question without further delay. FRIENDLY ACRES ANNEXATION. The City Manager is making a further study of the cost of - necessary functions for this area, such as police and fire protection, lighting, water, etc. He will bring a report to the Council at a later date. 1 BOARD OF REVIEW. Councilman Granger moved that Mr. Herbert Coulter, 309 Iris Street, be named to fill the vacancy on the Board of Review. Councilman Holmquist seconded the motion, which carried4 COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED that the intersection at Main and Broadway be added to the list of crossings on which the City Manager is making traffic studies. t CITY MANAGERIS REPORT ON TRAFFIC ,AT S. P. DEPOT. City Manager Rolison suggested that the parking regulations at the S. P. Depot parking area be changed to make a better 1 i traffic lane. If the parking were changed from diagonal to parallel, it would obvi- ate the necessity of cars backing into the line of traffic, thus expediting movement of cars in the center lane. COUNCIL14AN GRANGER MOVED that the City Manager be,authorized to change the parking at the S. P. Depot to parallel, and so mark the street. Councilman Holmquist seconded the I motion, which carried. BOND ISSUES: Councilman Granger requested that.a committee be named to study the whole question of the expenditure of bond money, with a view to finding legal methods by which unusable moneys could be reallocated to funds where urgently needed. After discussion, and after Councilman Granger had been commended by other Council members and by the City Manager for his suggestion, Councilman Granger moved that the Mayor $ appoint a committee to study the entire problem. Seconded by Councilman Holmquist, the motion carried. Mayor Hilton appointed Councilman Granger, Werder, the City 1' Attorney and City Manager, and will name two citizens to act on the committee. PREPARATION OF BUDGET: Councilman Granger suggested possible Charter Amendment advancing the date for presentation of preliminary budget to May, if possible, in order that a more comprehensive study of the proposed expenditures could be made by the Council. The Council was assured by City Manager Rolison that preliminary figures would be submitted to them no later than May, and possibly before. l i WHIPPLE AND EL CAMINO REAL INTERSECTION: Councilman Werder asked that immediate action be II taken to illuminate thia.interseetion, which is dangerous to both pedestrian and motorist.
