<br />installed in trench with plank covering for protection. Mills Construction Company
<br />however, in a letter to City Engineer would not agree to this,'stating that the City
<br />could stand the expense of the redwood planking, but that they would not pay the
<br />extra expense. City Manager explained that the subdivider was to furnish the materials
<br />and the City was to install same. City Engineer advised that the Hampton Court and
<br />Carrol Park subdivisions, were also under the same installation program, the City
<br />to do the work. Councilmen discussed the matter at length and decided that a
<br />meeting should be called at which the subdivider, City Manager, City Engineer, City
<br />Attorney and members of the Council discuss the matter fully to arrive at an
<br />understanding.
<br />ON MOTION of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Granger, claims No. 2680 to 2766
<br />were approved for payment. Motion passed.

<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger,
<br />H. E. Holmquist, George McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, W. M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton,
<br />and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. A. Rolison, City

<br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by
<br />Councilman McNulty. Motion carried.
<br />PUBLIC HEARING OF THE PROPOSED NEW ZONING ORDINANCE. Mayor Hilton announced the public
<br />hearing of the new zoning ordinance. City Clerk advised he had received several
<br />written protests. Murray Draper, Attorney, spoke in behalf of the Safeway Stores,
<br />Inc., owner of Lots 21 and 22, Block 3, Map of Redwood Highlands, more commonly
<br />known as the N E Corner of Arch and Brewster Streets, protesting considered adoption
<br />of new zoning ordinance which would change the classification from 0-1 to R-4 as
<br />proposed by the Planning Commission. The property was purchased July 2, 1946 in
<br />reliance upon Resolution No. 350 adopted June 17, 1946. Frank DePatta, Ole Olson
<br />and Louis Cohn protested change from 0-3 to light industrial on lower Broadway
<br />between Maple and Chestnut. Mr. Currie, City Attorney, interposed a correction;
<br />the area referred to is to be zoned for general commerciail not light industrial.
<br />Wm. E. Morrisey, Attorney, also filed written protest as representative of property
<br />owners in three or four blocks including Bradford, Hamilton, Fuller, Marshall,
<br />Jefferson Streets and Middlefield Road. Petitions filed not to change present
<br />zoning ordinance: (1) Lots 1, 21 61 11 & 12, Block No. 2 (2) Block 3, Range C,
<br />(3) Block 4, Range D, (4) Block 4, Range C. A. R. Isenberg, Attorney, protested
<br />fbr Alexander Sam'son'proposed rezoning of property on Stafford of Lott, Block 1,
<br />Lenolt Tract. Rafael Canete requested extension of 0-1 area to incluede Lots 6 &
<br />7, Block K, Boyd & Kent.Addition, Woodside Road. Frank DePatta requested 0-1
<br />to be extended as far as Kentfield, 1 block beyond present limit of Union Street.
