It was recommended that the City erect a step sign to match that of the <br />County which controlled the southbound lane on Bay Road. -the City stop sign would <br />control the northbound lane. The roadway was unpaved, but City Engineer Jain <br />believed this could be overcome, by, erecting a reflectorized barricade around the <br />proposed sign. Councilman Granger offered a resolution and moved adoption to <br />comply with the request, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried on roll call. <br />RE SOLUTION No. 693 <br />STOP SIGN ON BAY ROAD. <br />RESOLVED, •that a Stop Sign facing northbound traffic on Bay Road is hereby <br />authorized and directed to be installed on Bay Road at Fifth Avenue. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof held on the 21st day of March, 1949, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT, and Mayor <br />WERDER. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S. The traffic Fact -Finding Committee met with City j <br />Collector Perrin and Assistant Postmaster Paul Lowe and it was recommended that the <br />five free spaces be <br />eliminated as <br />a preliminary <br />measure to <br />relieve traffic <br />congestion. <br />jx <br />After further study <br />of the traffic <br />condition the <br />committee <br />would recommend <br />a perma- <br />nent policy whether or not parallel parking should be installed. Councilman Granger <br />moved the Council concur with action already taken, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Free parking had been moved to the opposite side of the entrance to the Post Office <br />as a temporary measure. Mayor Werder was of the opinion that there should be 5 <br />minutes for,free parking. Councilman Britschgi withdrew his second to the motion, <br />and Councilman Granger withdrew his motion.
