350 <br />lice Departments, permit was granted on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Swift acid <br />carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DISAPPROVAL•OF T S WATERMAN REQUEST FOR VARIANCE TO CHANGE FRONT SETBACK FROM <br />25 FT TO 20 FT ON LOT 1, BLOCK 2, SUBDIVISION OF LOT 103 W W & M SUBDIVISION of a part of Redwood Farm <br />(SE corner Roosevelt and Johnson). Councilman Morgan moved approval of Planning Commission recommenda- <br />tion, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DENIAL, EDO LUMBER COMPANY TO REZONE LOT 12,BLOCK 10, RANGE E, MEZESVILLE <br />.(NE CORNER SAMSON AND WINSLOF) FROM R-40 C-1. There were 27 protestants, two public: hearings were <br />held, and the commission did not feel that it was proper to recommend change as applied for. Council— <br />man Morgan moved approval of commission denial, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS BY MRS GEO BARBAROTTO, 1216 JOHNSON STREET, WAS CONSIDERED. Councilman Morgan <br />movpd this be referred to proper authorities for investigation, seconded by Councilman Holjquist. <br />On question Chief Lodi stated two lights were needed out there but there were many other requests <br />before this one, before this could be taken care of. Councilman Britschgi suggested amendment to <br />motion that Chief Lodi report at next meeting on approximate time lights could be installed writer of <br />letter to be notified when to expect lights to be installed which was accepted by maker and second. <br />Motion carried. <br />CITY ENGINEER SUBMITTED OFFER OF MR. SILVERSTEIN OF SAN MATEO REALTY COMPANY TO DEDICATE TO CITY WALKWAY <br />EASEMENT BETWEEN MAIN STREET AND PROPOSEIPARKING LOT BACK OF CITY HALL directly across from Redwood <br />Pharmacy on condition that City acquire 8 ft strip adjacent to 2 -story building at end of Stambaugh <br />Street. He further agreed to limit the length of his building to 120 ft to conform to master plan <br />for this parking lot. Cit#ngineer Jain recommended that necessary steps be taken immediately to ac- <br />quire strip in order to take advantage of Mr. Silverstein's offer and to preserve walkway and alleyway <br />for future use vh en this parking lot would be constructed. Councilman Morganmoved this be referred. <br />to RF,al Estate Committee for a report back at next meeting, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />ROOSEVELT CONSTRUCTION COMPANY.* 731 EL CAMINO REAL, SUBMITTED LETTER SIGNED BY Cy WEITZ IN RE TO DENIAL OF , <br />BUILDING PERI4IT for construction of home on Portion of Lot 3, Block 8, Friendly Acres, which he had <br />recently purchased. He had received commitment for FHA loan and bank loan on the property. Mr:Neitz <br />claimed no notice had been -given to the previous owner about the street. Councilman Spillers moved this <br />be referred to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Morgan. City Engineer explained that <br />this was referred to the Planning Commission because of ssveral requests in Friendly Acres area to de- <br />velop plan lines in those blocks of 700 ft deep with requests to establish streets there. The County <br />had allowed them to build all around the block, consequently lots were 3001 deep. Planning Commission <br />had aerial pictures taken in order to study and the Engineers office were preparing plan lines. As one <br />house existed on the lot the Planning Commission had previously denied a 4)lit of thol.ot.
