<br />PLANNING COIIIviISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF A VARIANCE IN THE TERMS of the Subdivision 4O5
<br />Ordinance to allow 5,000 Sq. Ft. lots instead of 6,000 Sq. Ft. in the Subdivision
<br />Cordilleras Park No. 2. All the lots in the surrounding subdivisions have lots with
<br />an area of 53000 Sq. Ft. each. The proposed subdivision was the last that could be
<br />developed in this area. Councilman Morgan moved approval of recommendation, seconded
<br />by Councilman Holmquist, and carried.
<br />' CATTICH BROS. & STEVENSON SUBMITTED A LETT,?3tt,RELATIVE TO A CLAIM FOR ALLEGED -DAMAGES to
<br />the Nonash Shop, 2363 Broadway, owned by the Estate of Daniel R. Stafford. A section
<br />of the curb was replaced and at the time there was no evidence of a downspout or
<br />gutters visible. (Vater backed up to the roof line, flowed between the flashing and
<br />wall causing alleged damage to light fixtures, clothing, etc. Cattich & Stevehson
<br />removed the curb again, making claim to the City. They were advised that the owners
<br />should make the claim themselves. Councilman Spillers moved that -the claim be denied
<br />and referred to insurance carrier, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried.
<br />COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND WELFARE submitted a list of permits issued to
<br />fourteen residents for chickens during the past year. The letter stated that many
<br />people had chickens who did not have a permit and had never applied for one. It was
<br />their opinion that the permit should be issued by the City and not by the Health
<br />be contacted by L. D. McLeod, Executive Secretary of the South San Francisco Chamber
<br />of Commerce so that the survey could be carried on by both cities and their respec-
<br />tive Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Britschgi moved that this be referred to the
<br />Chamber of Commerce, seconded by Councilman Swift and carried. Mayor Werder thought
<br />the City should be vitally interested and that the reference should indicate willing-
<br />ness on the part of the Council to meet with them.

<br />FINAL ESTIMATE, LENOLT WATER LILIES. City Engineer Jain advised that Harvey Conner, con-
<br />tractor on the installation of water line had completed work to satisfaction of City,
<br />with exception of one or two minor items of repaving, and recommended that Ip2213.10
<br />be paid, representing 90% of the total amount due on the project. Ten percent would
<br />be due and payable at the end of 35 days from this date, subject to correction of
<br />the minor items mentioned. Councilman Spillers moved that payment be made, seconded
<br />by Councilman Holmquist and carried.
<br />NORTH FAIR OAKS SECIER MAINTENANCE. Capt. nI. A. Grant, County Engineer was in agreement
<br />with the thought that these facilities could be more efficiently operated maintained
<br />by City forces in the future and suggested that the City take over the facilities on
<br />Department, but inspection should be maintained by them. Some discrepancies existed
<br />in five ordinances, 451, 455, 4832 534, and 558, still effective in certain small
<br />degrees. They suggested meeting with the City Council and City Attorney to discuss
<br />the possible development of a new ordinance dealing with animals and fowl within -the
<br />City. The letter was signed by Eugene M. Howell, Public HealthcEngineer. Council-

<br />man Holmquist moved that a date be set at the convenience of the Health Department
<br />and the Council to discuss the problem.and other problems pertaining to the Health

<br />Department, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried.
<br />PROPOSED INDUSTRIAL SURVEY OF SAN MATEO COUNTY PENINSULA was presented in a letter from
<br />Mayor Leo Ferko, of South San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae and Daly City. Due to
<br />many requests coming to their office seeking industrial information, need of such a
<br />survey was evident to determine what industrial property was available and where in
<br />the county it would be properly situated. Chambers of Commerce of the Peninsula would
<br />be contacted by L. D. McLeod, Executive Secretary of the South San Francisco Chamber
<br />of Commerce so that the survey could be carried on by both cities and their respec-
