Councilman Granger asked if a letter had been written asking the Redwood City Insurance Association to authorize someone to appear i before the Council as representative for the City in insurance matters. City Clerk Dodge thought a letter had been written to that effect; but would follow it up. EXPANSION OF STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM. Councilman Granger asked what had been done about this with reference to installation of new electroliers and arc circuit being cut over from Jefferson Avenue to Walnut Street. There was bond money for this transfer. Fire Chief Lodi was asked to comment. He stated that it had not been forgotten but at 1 present they were working on Woodside Rogd, also in Lenolt Tract and building a fire i alarm system in Friendly Acres area. This work was important and had to be done immediately. Councilman Granger suggested asking the Pacific Gas & Electric Company 11 I, to bid on cost of making transfer and asked for report by department heads on recom- mendation of changing from old electroliers to new type. This was placed on agenda for report back. DIASTER RELIEF PROGRAM. Councilman Granger asked about appointment of committees on this. fMayor Werder stated that this had been brought to'the attention of the department I heads first. City Manager Rolison had sent out a'communication with an organizational chart and understood the Mayor would call a meeting when they were ready to organize I t and decide on how many men they wanted to enlist. Councilman Britschgi suggested 1t this be placed on agenda for report back on what should be done. ` REMOVAL OF TREES FROM STATE HIGHIVAY. Councilman Granger inquired if anyone had the right to out down trees planted by the City, such as property owner of State Highway Com- mission. Councilman Swift wondered if we had jurisdiction over this. Acting City f Attorney Lebsack thought the City and property owner had mutual rights, but an ordi- nance was now being prepared relating to trees. City Engineer Jain thought there was an old ordinance by which permission was to be secured from the Street Superintendent I` to remove trees from public right-of-way. AMOUNT OF MONEY IN PARKING METER FUND. Councilman Granger asked for this report. Placed on agenda for next meeting. I REPORT ON L. C. SMITH COMPANY WITH REFERENCE TO PENALTY CLAUSE. City Engineer Jain reported 1 that work had gone on steadily since the last Councilmeeting and he was up to schedule on the Lenolt Tract. EAGLE HILL ALLEYS AND VIRGINIA AVENUE were almost completed. STANLEY-WESTGATE had rock base in. �} STOP SIGNS ON WHIPPLE AND EDGEWOOD AT ALAMEDA. Councilman Britschgi thought this should be II referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee as the hospital was nearing completion which would bring a lot of traffic up that way through the residential area and this would tend to slow traffic down. Signs at Whipple and King might be considered near the school. Referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee for report back. ORDINANCE ON CHICKENS. Councilman Holmquist stated that recently a letter from the Health Department asked that the 4 or 5 ordinances with reference to chickens be reviewed. He had received some calls from residents on this, and suggested that City.Attorney Currie bring them in and find out what was wrong with them. Mayor Werder suggested this be considered at the meeting scheduled for Monday night March 27th, City Attorney Currie to be informed to present the matter at that time. k CLAIMS Nos. 2540 to 2595 inclusive in the amount of $21, 628.14 were approved for payment on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried.
