<br />PURCHASE OF MOTORCYCLE FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT. City Manager was authorized to purchase
<br />motorcycle from Howard Overby Motor Company for $1160.85 on motion of Councilman
<br />Morgan, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried.
<br />1948049 TAX ORDINANCE. After explanation of City Attorney Currie as to the content of the
<br />ordinance establishing tax rates for the various areas in the City, the ordinance
<br />was introduced on motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Morgan,
<br />and carried.
<br />RESOLUTION No. 6o9, a dopting Engineer's plan, Johnson Street Improvements. Resolution
<br />approving Engineer's plans and specifications was offered for adoption by Council-
<br />man Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried on roll call. Council-
<br />man Britschgi and Spillers noted absent.

<br />RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS, PROFILES, DETAILED DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
<br />JOHNSON STREET
<br />RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, that the plans,
<br />profiles, detailed drawings, andspecifications for improvements on Johnson Street,
<br />Monthly Rental
<br />$90.00 per M.G. for the first 35 24. G. annually
<br />60.00 per M.G. for the next 15 M.G. annually
<br />45.00 per M.G. for all over 50 M.G. annually

<br />The above monthly charge'shall be based upon the character and volume of the
<br />K
<br />waste which can be properly handled by the City Sewage Treatment Plant.
<br />The City Engineer may require the installation of suitable screening and pre-
<br />'
<br />treatment devices on the user's premises to prepare the waste so that the City
<br />Treatment Plant can adequately treat the waste with its designed normal treatment
<br />>
<br />processes. It may also require approved mechanical measuring and recording devices
<br />on the user's premises. All the above special equipment shall be installed at the
<br />sole expense of the industry and to the approval and satisfaction of the City
<br />Engineer.

<br />The City Engineer or his representative shall have the right at all time to

<br />check the operation of the screening mechanism, the operation of the measuring and
<br />F
<br />recording devices, and to make records of the readings.

<br />The industry shall, at its -own expense, remove and dispose of all waste mater-
<br />ial retained upon the screens and/or not approved•for disposal in the City Sewage
<br />and Treatment System.
<br />ADDITIONAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
<br />1. Screening Required
<br />(a) Domestic Sewage, consisting.essentially of human wastes, may be passed
<br />Into sewers without screening.
<br />(b) Industrial wastes must be screened through the equivalent of a screen
<br />with 20 meshes per lineal inch in both directions.
<br />11. Storm; Surface and Ground Waters
<br />No storm, surface and ground waters shall be permitted to flow into
<br />the City Sanitary Sewer System.
<br />111. Churches
<br />Churches shall not be charged for sewage disposal.
<br />IV. Determination of Sewage Quantities.
<br />All quantities of sewage shall be determined by the City Engineer,
<br />which shall be based on the percentage of water used that is actually
<br />deposited into the sanitary sewer system, eccept that any user who
<br />may desagree with the City Engineer's determination, may at his own
<br />expense install measuring devices, subject to the approval of the
<br />Engineering and Water Departments.

<br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 608, adopted
<br />by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 31st day of August, 1948,
<br />at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California.
