area
with a problem of 6 cars to try and park Off the street at night. Men working in Pabcos
plant on the night shift were parking their cars in parking lot of Safeway Store until noon on the
following day, which space was needed for patrons during the morning. Mayor Britschgi thought some
ideas on this might he picked up at the meeting in Los Angeles. Councilman Spillers moved that this
be carried on the agenda until the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried.
II
HEARING ANNEXATION CORDILLERAS ADDITION. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed by the Mayor.
PpgLIC
II 6 APPROVING ANNEXATION OF CORDILLERAS PARK ADDITION was moved for adoption by Councilman
ORDINANCE 65
" Spillers, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried on roll call.
1
ETHER CONSIDERATION PROPCSED IMPROVEIlIENTS RED71001) AVENUE M019 JUNIPERO TO FAIRVIEI7. One bid was received by Sterling Motors in the amount of $2,126.98
187
n
which was $76.98 more than the amount provided in the budget as the estimates were gathered earlier
last spring. No transfer to the Street Cleaning Capital outlay account w ould be needed since the cost
of the new street sweeper was about $4800 Jess than estimated if the Council accepted this bid which
was the recommendation of City Manager Rolison. Councilman Spillers moved that bid be accepted,
seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried, Mayor Britschgi voting No.
REPORT ON BID OPENING, REMOVAL AND RELOCATION POUND BUILDING. Two bids were received for the removal of the
Animal Shelter, including the reconstruction of existing kennels and other related facilities at.its
proposed new location.
Stevenson Pacific $9,683.00
Julian Basin 10,187.00
Both bids were in excess of the budget ap,,ropriation of $4500 which was based on estimated by
Building Inspector at time of the preparation of the 1950-51 budget. Should the low bid be accepted
a transfer of $5,183 from the unbudgeted reserve would be required. The contemplated sale of City
property on which these facilities were now located should compensate the City for the major portion
of this amount. Councilman Granger moved approval of City Manager's recommendation to get the build-
ing moved and try to raise the money by the sale of the property for most of the difference, seconded
byCoimcilman Spillers, and carried. It was conceded that little would be gained by re -advertising
hoping for more bids, as prices had gone up and not many contractors were willing to undertake work of
this kind.
i
RESOLUTION 991 OF INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR ANNEXATION CANYON1 ROAD.
