AND BAYSHORE INTERSECTION <br />CITY AT REPORT -CITY'S JURISDICTT0�1, a • Mr. <br />Carie <br />stated the City had no jurisdiction in reg rd to this intersection for traffic signals as <br />it was outside the City limits, but the Council might request the County to apply to the <br />Division of Highways. Councilman Morgan moved this be referred to the County informin <br />them of the hazard and asking that they take it up with the State Dept., seconded by <br />B <br />Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />WATER SUPT. REPORT - DIRECT CONNECTION WITH HETCH HETCHY, WATER SERVICE IN UPLAND MANOR. <br />Mr. Kolby had made a request for water service and a survey of the request was made and <br />tthe (1) parcel in question was approximately 25 ft to 30 ft at the most below Brewster <br />reservoir overflow; (2) S. F. Water Department policy would not permit small service taps <br />to their transmission lines -under existing xonditions; 3) The present Hetch Hetehy <br />metered service supplying Brewster reservoirs would not deliver adequate pbessuretothe <br />of reservoir demand. Mr. Kolby appeared and protested. Liayor <br />Upland Road 31e line at time <br />Britschgi stated he was informed by the County Health Dept* that this property wouldnot <br />be issued a permit for a septic tank. Mr. Kolby had not been aware of this, his residence <br />being in San Francisco. Councilman Morgan moved that in keeping with the policy in this <br />district, that this petition be denied, seconded by Councilman Jones. Mayor Britschgi <br />informed Mr. Kolby that 15 to 30 petitions were being circulated aid he would be able to <br />sign this petition for an assessment district. Motion carried. <br />DISCUSSION OF DATE FOR HEARING FOR RENT CONTROL. City Atty. Currie suggested the Council <br />might have to get some research group to make a study of this and survey the City if a res <br />olution for Decontrol was contemplated. RE WATER PUMP. Mr. Geo. Coley, General Manager <br />sp <br />of S. & W. submitted a letter confirming a telephone conversation with Mr. Rolison,in <br />Ci <br />which w as stated they felt it better to discontinue using the well on Charter St. whichsot <br />' <br />Co <br />shortly become the property of the Redwood City Elemental School District. They felt the <br />re <br />relocation of the water main or housing changes, etc. would be more costly to them than <br />the benefits derived therefrom. If definite plans were available and an estimate of expen• <br />RESOL <br />ditures on hane, they might be interested, but they did not wish to obligate themselves o(t <br />' <br />Au <br />the possibility of future costly rearrangements. Councilman Morgan moved that the well be <br />S <br />capped and any equipment put in .the storage yard. Chief Lodi was questioned in re to keep. <br />C <br />ing the well in use with reference to emergencies in case of fire. He thought the pressure <br />tht <br />here would be of little value for a fire. Possibility of the school buying the equipment <br />mai, <br />and using the water for sprinkling was mentioned. Mayor Britschgi thought in the event of <br />a disaster the well water might be valuable. If not in use, the pump would deteriorate. <br />PURTHEa <br />Councilman Morgan withdrew his motion with the consent of the second and then moved that <br />moi <br />this be carried on the agenda regularly for the next two nobths until it was decided what <br />oil <br />they were going to do with the,property, seconded by Councilman Herkner. It was decided <br />that City Manager Rolison would tyake a personal call on the Manager of S. & W. and Council- <br />CITY 4 <br />man Herkner would accompany him. <br />He, <br />DISCUSSION OD WATER SYSTEM, WESTWOOD TERRACE #2 and #3- Murphy Construction C6. had requested <br />mal <br />approval of a temporary pumping station adjacent to the City's four million gallon SArO ; <br />RE30LU! <br />voir in the Carson Monkton tract to supply water: City Engineer had worked with,theene- <br />OF <br />neers from the Board of Fire Underwriters and the Fairbanks Morse Co. and the following <br />mai <br />recommendation was made by the City Engineer: Pumping Plant was to be installed at thsox• <br />ca; <br />pense of the Murphy Const. Co. as suggested in the attached report of Geo. Nolte with addi- <br />tional charges. Councilman Morgan moved approval of the recommendation of City Engineers <br />seconded by Councilman Granger, Mr. Jain Oo. but ' <br />COUNCI: <br />stated a letter was sent to Murphy Const. <br />no reply was received. Mr. Geo. Nolte Engineer for Murphy was in the audience, and stated <br />CLAIM', <br />that he had talked with Mr. Cooley, and apparently there were no objections. Motion carr" <br />mo <br />REPORT ON APPLICATION OF RODNEY F. ROMAN FOR PRIVATE PATROL, SERVICE IN THIS CITY WAS MADE BY <br />CHIEF S. D. WOOD, POLICE DEPT. The Chief made a very complete report on this organisation <br />on request of the Council and Mr. Roman was found to be licensed with the Detective Li- <br />cense Bureau of Professional and Vocational Standards of the State. The Chief had nool <br />joetion to the service offered% except that if a license wasiranted that a stipulationbe <br />made that,subscribers be limited to business, commercial and industrial plants and not in• <br />elude private homes or residential areas. 'Councilman Morgan moved that this application <br />not be accepted at this time, as it seemed to be no actual need for service supplementing <br />the Police Dept., seconded by Councilman Granger* Upon farther discussion Mr. •Morgan With' <br />drew his motion with the consent of the second and Councilman Granger moved that after <br />having heard Report of the Police Chief that action be deferred until such time as he race" <br />ves calls from the merchants for this type od service seconded h Councilman MorganCite <br />s <br />Attorney Currie did not think a business license could denied but would check and re• <br />port back in two weeks. <br />LETTER FROM ASSESSOR RE ASSESSIdENTS DUE ON TAX DEEDED LOTS POPLAR JUNIPERO & VIRGINIA AVE, <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $29037.65. Councilman Granger moved this be carried on agenda to be sture <br />d- <br />ied by Real Estate Committee, seconded by Councilman Morgan. Cit Att - Currie statedth <br />was no point in the City paying for these assessments unless the Cit ywanted to quiet title <br />to lots before proceedings start. If the lots were tax delinquent the Cit could not pay <br />off the assessments as this would be a gift to the future owner.
