Committee re-examined the location. of the newly installed school caution <br />signs. Observation has shown that motorists travelling towards El Camino Real <br />need more advance yarning. The Engineering Department has therefore been requested <br />to move this sign farther west. Councilman Morgan moved approval of committee <br />COUt, <br />recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />Cin <br />PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMENDATION STATUS EMPLOYEES REPLACING EMPLOYEES IN MILITARY SERVICE, <br />The following amendment to Rule X, Section 2 was drafted by the Attorney's office, <br />discussed with the Council Civil Service Committee, posted on the employee bulletin <br />boards, and is now ready for adoption by the Council. 'Provided, however, that <br />any person appointed to fill a vacancy caused by any employee leaving for Military <br />Service in the Armed Forces of the United States shall be entitled to receive all <br />benefits accorded to permanent employees, other than permanent status, if said <br />employee so appointed has otherwise become qualified under these rules to become <br />a permanent employee.” Councilman Jones moved approval of recommendation. seconded <br />by Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMENDATION WAIVING EXAIIINATIONS FOR CERTAIN SEMI -SKILLED LABORERS. <br />After investigation of employment conditions as they exist at the present time, <br />the Board felt that written examinations should be waived for the Janitor, Semi - <br />Skilled Laborer in the Street Maintenance, Street Cleaning, Painting, Sewer, Yater and <br />COUIi <br />Yacht Harbor Departments, subject to the discretion of the Personnel Officer, none of <br />the employees to be hired to drive a motor vehicle. Vlritten examinations shall be re- <br />CITY <br />quired for all Semi -Skilled Laborers who will drive motor vehicles. Councilman Royer <br />moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT ON ACCEPTANCE OF DEED I'd TRUFFELLI ON SPRUCE STREET.
