BURNING CLIPPINGS IN GUTTERS AND DUMPING IN LOTS'. Mayor Britschgi. thought some provision .35
should be made for picking up rubbish to end this sort of thing. At present there
is a minimum charge of $1.50 or $5.0o, an hour for this service.. He asked if there
was some better arrangement that could be made with the contractor. City Manager
Rolison would follow through on this and report back.
CLAIMS Nos. 3175 to 3272 inclusive in the amount of 055,051E-99 were approved for payment
on motion of Councilman Royer, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
ADJOURNMENT 11:00 P. City Manager Rolison submitted a report having met
with Mr. Arata of the San Mateo Garbage Company for the purpose of discussing the
matter of providing for rubbish removal from the' residential area. It was their
opinion that this service could best be performed under the existing garbage contract
by the adoption of a flat monthly charge of fifty cents per month, weekly removal not
to exceed one hundred pounds, or the capacity of a 30 gallon garbage can. In the
event that removal of rubbish would be required in quantities in excess of the facil-
ities provided by the Garbage Collector, the City would provide such service at a
minimum charge of 01.50 per pick-up, or $5.00 per hour for two men and one truck.
If the Council desired to improve the present sefice, it was recommended that Ordi-
nance No. 339 be amended to include a special provision for rubbish removal. Coun-
Royer moved that City Attorney Currie be authorized to prepare amendment to Ordinance
providing rubbish removal service as submitted by the City Manager, seconded by
Councilman Jones, and carried.
THE TRAFFIC FACT FINDING C011AITTEE RECOMMENDED A STOP SIGN ON OADWOOD DRIVE stopping
traffic approaching Oadwood Boulevard. As stop signs had been established a number
of times recently necessitating publication expense because it was necessary to adopt
an ordinance, although this was approved on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by
Councilman Jones and carried, it was carried on the agenda for two weeks until more
than one could be published at the same time or until an amendment was adopted to the
ordinance whereby stop signs could be established by resolution thus eliminating
Publication cost. Under theā¢present Charter and ordinances it was necessary to adopt
an ordinance to establish stop signs.
