<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING
<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />Monday, August 27th, 1951s 8:00 PM
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, Sidney D. Herkner, Paul Jones, Albert
<br />H. Morgans Jrl, Wm. H. Royer, Robt. V. Spillers and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present sere City
<br />Manager E. A. Rolison, Administrative Assistant Richard D. Miller, City Attorney C. Be Currie and Po.
<br />lice Chief S. D. Wood. Mayor Britschgi was noted absent. Councilman Morgan had been nominated Acting
<br />Mayor at the August 20th regular meeting and presided at this meeting.
<br />COMMUNICATIONS: Letter received from Mrs. R. L. Spangler re indiscriminate grading of hillsides resulting
<br />in unsightly cuts, creating drainage and erosion problems. Mrs. Spangler advocates the issuance of per.
<br />mits for such excavations suggesting the right of adjacent property owners to protest. On motion of
<br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Herkner, matter was referred to City Engineer and City Attor.
<br />ney for recommendation. Motion carried.
<br />LETTER FROM A. J. SCAMPINI, ATTORNEY FOR CARLO AND DELFINA DE 'PETRIS
<br />THE PROPERTY WHICH WAS GRANT
<br />DEEDED TO THE CITY SOME YEARS AGO. This is the blind street leading off Broadway between Main and Jef.
<br />ferson, North side which has been closed to traffic due to unsafe condition of bridge timbers. Letter
<br />demands return of the property to the grantors. On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Council.
<br />man Royer, City,Attorney Currie was directed to answer Attorney Scampini advising that the City has no
<br />plans at present regarding the disposition of this property. Motion carried.
<br />ACTING MAYOR MORGAN DELIVERED A COPY OFA COMMUNICATION FROM J. W. haLLER REALTY COMPANY regarding proposed
<br />creek covering to each member of the Council for study and future consideration.
<br />INTRODUCTION 1951-52. TAX ORDINANCE establishing the maximum rate of $1.03. Councilman Spillers moved intro.
<br />duction of ordinance, seconded by Councilman.Royer and carried.
<br />FINAL MAP STERLING HIGHLANDS #3. Councilman Royer moved approval subject to following conditions, seconded
<br />by Councilman Herkner and carried.
<br />1. Deeds satisfactory to City Attorney for Massachusetts. Avenue and
<br />Junipero Serra Boulevard.
<br />2. Title policy to deeds mentioned in 1. above.
<br />3. Agreement prepared by City Attorney to be signed by City Manager "olison.
<br />4. Performance bond in amount $215,000 approved by City Attorney dated and
<br />referring to agreement.
<br />COUNCILMAN HERKNER REQUESTED INFORMATION REGARDING THE EXTENSION OF BROADWAY AND PAVING OF NATIONAL AVENGE
<br />PROJECT. City Attorney advised everything was being done to expedite the work and he is continuing
<br />the contact with "ational Motor Bearing officials to the end that job will be started as soon as possible,
<br />City Manager Rolison will contact Mr. Archibald and issue necessary order for the work of grading thead-
<br />joining 4.75 acres. This area has been staked out and is ready for the work to proceed.
<br />COUNCILMAN SPILLERS MOVED ADJOURNMENT, SECONDED BY Councilman Royer and carried. Adjourned at 8:45 PM•
