City Engineer Jain advised that improvements have not been completed to date although performance gond to this project guarantees completion before September 1, 1949• The subdivider, Nils Johnson has been notified both verbally and in writing several times to complete this work and so far has failed to do so. Mr. Jain recommended that Glen Falls Indemnity Company be called upon to complete this work immediately before rainy weather sets in and make the funds available for immediate construction. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Morgan, that the City Attorney be instructed to call upon the bond company to arrange the final completion of this project. Council- man Royer suggested that the matter be worked out to the best advantage to all con- cerned. Motion carried. CITY ENGINEER JAIN'S REQUEST FOR THE COUNCIL'S POLICY REGARDING OWNERS FILLING IN PARKWAYS WITHOUT SECURING A PERMIT. Councilman Spillers was of the opinion there should be an ordinance to protect the City Engineer. Councilman Granger moved, s econded by 0oun. cilman Morgan that City Attorney Currie study the matter and prepare amendment to sidewalk ordinance if necessary. There is a possibility that the City nova has control over this situation and the City Attorney will study the matter. Motion carried. THE PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVED RECOMMENDATION OF HENRY ARENDES' APPLICATION TO RESUB, DIVIDE Lot 35 and portion of 37 by adding rear 70t of Lot 35 to Lot 37 (231 Arlington Road). Councilman Spillers moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION NO PARKING ZONE BOTH SIDES OF WHIPPLE FROM SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRACKS TO EL CAMINO REAL. Councilman Granger moved approval of recommendation, City Attorney to prepare necessary ordinance, seconded by Council- man Morgan and carried. MRS. W. L. MEUSSDORFFERIS REQUEST FOR SIGNS PROHIBITING PARKING IN FRONT OF HER PROPERTY, 2460 El Camino Real. The Traffic Fact Finding Committee recommends that she be written a letter permitting her painting the driveway approach red if she wishes to do so at he own expense. Councilman Spillers moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. LIGHTING EL CAMINO REAL BETWEEN BROADWAY AND BREWSTER AVENUE. A letter from the Division of Highways stating they could not contribute towards this project but only for safety lighting at intersections. City Attorney 'Currie stated there was a possibility bond money could be used for this purpose. On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Royer, City Manager Rolison will secure estimate and report to the Council as to total cost of project. Motion carried. FENCE ALONG SOUTHERN PACIFIC RIGHT-OF-WAY, BREWSTER TO BROADWAY. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Morgan that the matter be continued on the agenda, City Cler1k to continue search for file indicating reason why fence was originally moved. Motion carried. PEDESTRIAN GATES, BROADWAY CROSSING. On motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Spillers, matter was carried on the agenda for 30 days to allow the Southern Pacific Company to work up estimate of cost. SATURDAY CLOSING CITY HALL was placed on the agenda for further study on motion of Council- man Morgan, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. PENINSULA SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION APPEAL FOR CONTRIBUTION 1951-52 SEASON. Inasmuch as this Was
