Mr. Larry Brian called Councilts attention to a small see tion of paving in front of the City owned property being used for construction of new firehouse. He estimated the cost of the improvement at ~021000. IJfr. Jain recommended that the City be responsible for this assessment when due. Motion carried. ATTORNEY JONATHAN H. ROWELL REPRESENTING PROPERTY 01SP_dER ON FAIRVIEW AVENUE requested abandonment of a portion of the street and he presented a sketch and petition signed by the property others in this area. On motion of Councilman Spillers, sec- onded by Councilman Royer, the matter was referred to the Planning Commission for study and recommendation. A LETTER FROA: ANDRDV SPINAS REGARDING PROPOSED STREET WORK around Goodwin Avenue School. 1-+:r. Spinas requested that the City advertise for paving in the vicinity of the Goodwin Avenue School, the cost of installation to be divided between the subdi- vider and the School Board. On motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Council- man Herkner, City Manager was authorized to prepare the necessary call for bid. Motion carried. LETTER FROM ATTORNEY WAYTTE MILLINGTON was read regarding acceptance of sewer, Iuianzanita Street apartment of Mr. R. J. Varsi. This was placed on the agenda. PETITION RE(1UESTING REMOVAL OF PEPPER TREES on northwest side of James Avenue between Winkleblec.i and California, was referred to Superintendent of Parks for a recom- mendation, on motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. LETTER FROM JAPANESE-AIMRICAN CITIZENS LEAGUE REQUESTS THE USE OF THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS, Sunday, May 18th, for their convention. Councilman Spillers moved permission be granted subject to policy of the Council now in effect which regulates the use of the Council Chambers, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. REDWOOD CITY SPORTSMENIS CLUB requested street light at harbor Boulevard entrance to Yacht harbor. Councilman Granger moved that this matter be referred to the Street Light Committee, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. CITY ENGINEER JAIN ADVISED he had received a call from Attorney Wilson who stated that they had been unable to prepare the amended map and resolution, that amendment would be handled in the near future, Sequoia Drainage project. This was placed on the agenda. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT ON REQUESTED TRAidSFER OF FUNDS FOR SWIMMING POOL OPERATION. City Manager Rolison submitted details of funds necessary to open the swimming pool advising ti -at many of the items were of a non-recurring nature which were not anticipated at the time the 1951-52 Budget was adopted. Councilman Spillers offered Resolution No. 1220 and moved its adoption TRANSFERRING $1475 from UIdBUD- GETE-D RESERVE to the RECREAT10N SUPPLIES 8, SERVICES, seconded by Councilman IaIorgan and carried on roll call.
