Pe <br />mit to construct overhead wires across City owned property at Bayshore and Harbor <br />Boulevard was granted on motion made by Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers, and carried. <br />REDWOOD CITY WOMEN IS CLUB REQUEST TO HANG BANNER ACROSS BROADWAY NEAR EL C.AMINO REAL to <br />advertise their Flower Show, was granted on motion made by Councilman Morgan, see- <br />onded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />THE BOY SCOUT REQUEST TO HOLD MEETINGS IN FIRE HOUSE No. 3 was referred to the Council <br />Recreation Committee for recommendation on motion made by Councilman Royer, seconded <br />Councilman Herkner and carried. <br />ALLIED PRINTING TRADES COUNCIL REQUEST TO HAVE PRINTING DONE LOCALLY. City Manager Rolisi <br />explained to the Council that local printers do all City printing for which they are <br />equipped. Orders for snap -out forms, special bonds, carbonized checks cannot be <br />handled by local printers, and quotations from outside firms are therefore requested <br />for these and similar items. Councilman Royer moved, seconded by Couneiman Jones, <br />that the City Manager reply to the letter from Allied Printing Trades Council settin@ <br />forth the above information. <br />CLAIM FOR DAMAGES BY JOHN S. AND ESTA FURNAS for alleged damages incurred in fall at <br />Broadway and Jefferson Avenue in the amount of $320,000. Councilman Spillers moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan, that claim be denied and referred to Insurance Carriei <br />Motion carried. <br />TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO FIRE DEPARTMENT MOTOR VEHICLE ACCOUNT. Due to serious breakdown ok <br />equipment and the necessity for excessive use of gas and oil, the City Manager re- <br />quested the transfer of $741.00 from the Unbudgeted Reserve to the Fire Department <br />Motor Vehicle Account which amount will be required for operations for the balance <br />of this fiscal year. Councilman Granger offered resolution No. 1234 transferring <br />$741.00 from Unbudgeted Reserve to the Fire Department Motor Vehicle Account, <br />seconded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll call. <br />CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATION REGARDING PETITION TO REMOVE TREES ON JAMES STREET. Three <br />or four small pepper trees in the parkway between Winklebleck and California Streets, <br />and underbrush on the Southern Pacific property present an unsightly condition. <br />Permission was requested to have City forces remove the trees, and request the <br />Southern Pacific to clean away the brush. After discussion, Councilman Granger <br />moved, seconded by Councilman Royer, that the Southern Pacific be contacted for <br />permission to have City forces remove brush, and that pepper trees also be removed. <br />Motion carried. <br />REQUEST OF MENLO PARK FIRE DISTRICT FOR PERMISSION TO INSTALL 2 Fire Hydrants on Redwood <br />City's. new 16" line, outside the City Limits on the easterly side of El Camino Real0 <br />J nes seconded b Councilman Spillers <br />Permission granted on motion by Councilman o , y <br />and carried. <br />
