<br />Councilman Spillers moved that the.City Attorney be instructed-to.prepare ordinance
<br />to rezone Lots 4, 5.and.6,.Valota.Park from R-1 to R.-2, seconded.by Councilman Jones
<br />and carried.
<br />CITY MANAGER REPORT REGARDING PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION.1S.RECOMMENDATION TO INSTALL
<br />SPRINKLER SYSTEM ON.SECOND AVENUE AND BAY..ROAD PROPERTY AND.,.MAP.SURVEY OF CIRCLE PARK.
<br />City Manager. Rolison. stated. that he had.. written, to the _Park..and. Racreation Commission
<br />and asked. that,the...City. Clerk -read- the, letter.._. In .his..le.t.ter, .the -City, Manager suggested
<br />that since there was .no money. appropriated. for. these ..new..projeats. they be deferred for
<br />consideration. in next. year '.s..budget.,..which. p.rodedure.. applies. for .all.,City departments,
<br />in expanding..the.ir .s.e,rviaes.... This -is -also essential. since. the -re is not sufficient
<br />funds An. this.,. year..'.s.. Park -Department .budget,, and.,the-unbudgeted-reserve is limited to
<br />provide for emergency purposes only.
<br />City Manger Rolison.statedthat he had been handed a sketch of Circle Park showing the �I
<br />property available which could.be sent to -the Park and Recreation. Commission. Mayor
<br />Herkner asked if, there.was. any money available for Second Avenue Park and how much
<br />would it cost. The. City .Manager.. stated. that. they did .not. state where they wanted the
<br />sprinkler .s:ystem,.however, there. was apprximately a. piece of ground. 5001 long and 100'
<br />in depth available, andif. the- C.ouncll.thinks,-thi-s.,is..es.senti.al he. will proceed with
<br />the project.
<br />Councilman. Granger was..of the opinion_.that..an estimate. should..be, made and a report
<br />brought back at the next Council -.meeting.. The_.Gity Manager..s.tated .that the cost to
<br />the City for turfing,. etc. of. the San Francisco., right -.of -.way. which. :was approximately
<br />80' x 300! was about .$10.400, w. hick .would be .about.,half .of . the. proposed area. The
<br />cost to fix. the .entire .are.a_ will be. _approximately $2,500.
<br />Councilman Granger, moved- that. the. City Manager. make...a.surv.ey.in regard to the cost of

<br />installing a sprinkler system in this area and report back at the next Council
<br />meeting. Gerry Verson spoke
<br />in
<br />favor of a park in the
<br />Second.Avenue
<br />area.
<br />Councilman
<br />Royer seconded the motion.
<br />The
<br />area should be divided
<br />into two units
<br />and a
<br />study made
<br />of the ways and means to improve them. Councilman Stout could not see why the sprink-
<br />ler system should be put in at this time of year when it is too late to put id a lawn. �I
<br />Councilman Granger stated that he Vas 'just interested in the sprinkler system and not
<br />the lawn at this time. He was of the opinion that this. would he a. good time because of
<br />the slack season.in..the Park Department. Motion carried.
<br />*Councilman Stout moved that the.Clty Manager..bring.in.a..report regarding turfing the
<br />park in two parts for the area, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
