He asked that consideration in not granting a permit <br />be given. <br />Mr. Bobby Cohn, one of the owners and representatives, spoke in behalf of this show. <br />He stated that they have been operating in the State of California for the past <br />27 years and have Dassed all the safety tests, their last being made by the City of <br />San Carlos as recently as June of this year. He stated that at that time he had <br />been told that they had the finest equipment in the show business. According to <br />his letter of request, they will abide by the City rules. He requested that the <br />Council approve his request. <br />Councilman Jones asked the City Attorney if this wasn't a Planning Commission re- <br />quest. City Attorney Currie stated that this was a dual request and a use permit <br />as well as a City permit would be required. Councilman Royer moved that as long as <br />there wasn't a parking problem and as long as they abide to the City requirements <br />they be granted a permit, seconded by Councilman Spillers. The Use Permit is to be <br />obtained from the Planning Commission. Police Chief Wood asked what games were going <br />to be played. Mr. Cohn replied that there would be no gambling games. Motion <br />carried. <br />APPROVAL INCREASE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 1955-56 BUDGET APPROPRIATION. Letter from the City <br />Manager was read by the Clerk. In. the letter, Mr. Rolison stated that the 1954-55 <br />budget appropriation for the Chamber of Commerce was the sum of $~6,625. This yearts <br />request was made for an increase of $550 and it is his understanding that the Council <br />has informally agreed to approve one-half of this amount, of $275 - <br />Councilman Spillers moved acceptance of the City Managerts report, seconded by <br />Councilman Royer. Councilman Jones asked to hear from Mr. Thompson, President of <br />the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Thompson stated that the $6,625 that was appropriated <br />to the Chamber of Commerce for the advertising budget is largely directed by the <br />Council and that approximately one-third is used directly by the Chamber of Commerce. <br />He stated that within the next two weeks an industrial map will be available showing <br />all industrial land available in the City of Redwood City. <br />Councilman Royer made an amendment to the motion changing the figure of x'550.00 <br />Councilman Granger seconded the motion which carried on roll call, Councilman Herk- <br />ner voting "No1°, stating that the Committee was not unanimous and that $275 was the <br />compromise figure. Councilmen Britschgi and Stout were noted absent. Motion carried. <br />FURTHER CONSIDERATION PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION AMEND ORDINANCE 600 REGULATING <br />SWIMMING POOLS, HEIGHT OF FENCES AND HEDGES. There was no report available. City <br />Engineer Jain stated that again they couldn't agree. This ordinance is difficult <br />to interpret and needs revising.
