approved his subdivision with certain stipulations and Mr. Eichler was interested in
the decision regarding the Canavese Subdivision. Councilman Spillers moved that this 1
be sent back to the Planning Commission and that Mr. Jain,s letter be sent along with a
I
their request, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried.
PETITION CONTAINING 222 NAMES REQUESTING COUNCIL APPROVAL TO REQUEST FOR REMOVAL OF'
CHATTERBAR BARRIER AT RENATO COURT AND EL CAMINO REAL. The Clerk read the pe ti -
tion urging that an opening in the said barrier be provided so that left turns
can be made into and out of Renato Court. He also read a letter from Roy L. Alley,
attorney with offices in Renato Court, in which Mr. Alley states that he had mailed
a letter to the Division of Highways concerning the traffic engineering of the inter-
section of E1 Camino 'Real and Renato Court in Redwood City. The Division of High-
ways responded to this letter by stating that since Renato Court "is a private
Id ,
driveway" nothing could be done to alleviate the situation. This response to
their communication tends to indicate that the Division was making its decision
merely from a perusual of an obsolete map. He asked that the Council consider
his letter and the petition.
Councilman Jones stated that this should be referred to the Traffic Fact Finding
Committee. Captain Faulstich, a member of the Traffic Committee, stated that a
similar problem had been taken up with them before and they would not recommend re-
moval of the barrier. The petition still would have no affect on the Committee's
decision.
Councilman Royer moved that the petition, along with an up to date map, be mailed
to the State without recommendation. Councilman Granger seconded the motion adding
that petition was presented to the Council and was sent to the State for their in-
formation. Captain Faulstich stated that the State is working on the idea of clos-
ing all streets entering onto E1 Camino Real from Oakwood Blvd. to Marlborough.
i Motion carried.
OLSON JEWELERS REQUEST "CLOSE-OUT SALE" PERMIT. The Clerk read the letter sent in by
i
Mr. Andrew Olson, 2612 Broadway, wherein he asked permission to conduct a quitting
business sale. He met all the requirements of Ordinance 437 and attached an inven-
tory.
Councilman Spillers moved permit be granted, seconded by Councilman Royer who added
the condition that the sale be cleared up within 30 days if possible. Motion
carried.
RESIGNATION OF H. M. COULTER FROM PERSONNEL BOARD. The following letter was read by
-1
the Clerk: "It is with regret that I must inform you of my resignation from the
i
Personnel Board.
The pressure of my work with the bank together with the fact that I am being trans-
ferred to the Fresno area necessitates this action.
I have enjoyed my many years association with the members of the Board and City
Council and for the opportunity of serving the City in this manner."
Councilman Royer moved that the resignation be accepted and a letter of apprecia-
tion be sent to Mr. Coulter for the wonderful work that he has done on behalf of
the City, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS.
COUNCILMAN ROYER brought up the problem of the Hawes Park sale. The City does not own
a portion of the land to be sold to the School, and the School wants this piece of
