47i. <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE REZONING PORTION WELLESLEY PARK TO R -L -B-2 and R -1-B'-3. Councilman <br />Jones offered ordinance, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call, <br />Councilman Royer and Spillers noted absent. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REGARDING PURCHASE OF LOTS 23 to 28, BLOCK 379 CENTRAL PARK N0. 2, Myrtle <br />between Madison and creek. City Attorney stated that the Youngers were willing to <br />accept the sum of $2,300,00 net to them for all of the lots in question. Mr. Currie <br />felt that this was not out of line in view of the price paid recently by the City for <br />the lots immediately across the street. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved acceptance of City Attorney's report, City Manager to check <br />into the availibility of the funds and report at the next meeting, seconded by Council- <br />man Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Stout left the meeting .at 9:55 and returned at 9.58. <br />DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REQUEST CANCELLATION. OF TAXES ON LOT 3, BLOCK 8, BELLE HAVEN SUBDIVISION. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved approval of request, seconded by Councilman Jones and <br />carried. <br />CLAIM ALLEGED INJURIES EVELYN BOJO, FALL AT 632 PINE STREET. Councilman Britschgi moved <br />claim be denied. and referred to the insurance carrier, seconded by councilman Jones and <br />carried. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED LOADING ZONE, MAIN•STREET AT SEQUOIA HOTEL. Mayor Herkner was <br />of the opinion that this was approved about two years ago. Councilman Jones 'stated <br />that it had been denied. Captain Faulstich stated that this had formerly been a loading <br />P <br />zone and that the traffic situation.was such that they now would like to move the zone <br />around the corner, south of the pedestrian lane. Councilman Jones moved approval of <br />the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED INSTALLING CHATTER BARS TO PREVENT LEFT TURNS ONTO BAYSHORE <br />HIGHWAY AT JEFFERSON AVENUE, MIDDLEFIELD ROAD AND CHARTER STREET. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved approval of the Traffic Committee recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger. <br />City Engineer Jain stated that they had tried painting but it did not prove satisfactory. <br />Motion carried. The necessary encroachment permit will be requested from Division of <br />Highways. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM GOVERNOR KNIGHT REGARDING BUTANO FOREST. In his letter the Governor <br />Stated that the timber cutting in the north half of the north.half of Section 22 will <br />cease until the State and the timber operators can agree upon a'highly selective system <br />of logging which will protect the scenic value of that portion of the area. Further- <br />more, not timber will be out in the south half of the north half of Section 22. Under <br />the agreement, timber cutting will take place in Section 16 and in the east half of the <br />southeast quarter of Section 17. <br />Subject to prior approval of the State Park Commission, it is the intention of the <br />Governor to incorporate the proposed purchase in the budget which he will submit to the <br />Legislature in March, 1956. This will place the Butano Forest State Park project before <br />the Legislature one month before the earliest date on which any funds appropriated by <br />the Omnibus Park and Beach Bill could have been expended for this project under the <br />restrictions contained in that bill. <br />Letter filed and no action taken. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS REGARDING EXTENSION OF BAYSHORE FREEWAY.
