L <br />97 <br />wby this street should be opened. This was followed by discussion regarding the possible opening of <br />Altamont Way and leaving the section opening on Jefferson Avenue alone, there being about a 9 foot bank <br />on Jefferson Avenue. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved to turn this matter back to the City Engineer and have them check with the prop- <br />erty owners and report back in two Weeks, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />JOSEPH P. HANLON APPLICATION FOR USED CAR PERMIT AT 1450 EL CAMINO REAL. City Engineer Jain recommended that <br />any approval of this permit include the requirement that the owner shall comply with City ordinance requiring <br />construction of full width commerical sidewalk, to avoid the misunderstanding that has occurred in issuance <br />of permits for other used car lots. Mr. Hanlon applied as an individual for a use permit for the dealing <br />in Used Motor Vehicle at the property known as 1450 E1 Camino Real. This property formerly had been used <br />as a Used car lot. Mr. Hanlon enclosed a check in the amount of $400 as required by ordinance. Thio was <br />followed by discussion as to why this matter was brought before the Council before going to the Planning <br />t <br />Commission. Councilman Granger moved to remove'this item from the agenda, seconded by Councilman <br />i <br />Britschgi and carried. Because of the late hour, Councilman Britschgi suggested taking up only the remain- <br />ing agenda items which needed immediate attention. <br />a <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ANNEX HIGHLANDS TERRITORY #6 (Riff property,Upland and Brewster Avenue). Councilman <br />Royer offered RESOLUTION 1998 GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO THE CITY 'OF REDWOOD CITY THAT TERRITORY <br />DESCRIBED AS HIGHLANDS TERRITORY N0. 6, and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried <br />on roll 'call. ' <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE TO REZONE PORTIONS OF LOTS 8 AND 103 BLOCK G, WOODSIDE ACRES NO. 1 (Canclini property, <br />°1548 Gordon Street'). Councilman Britschgi offered introduciton of ordinance, seconded by Councilman Royer <br />i <br />and carried on roll call, <br />AUTHORIZE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS, VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING PARKING LOT. Councilman Royer moved <br />! the City Manager be author=ized to call for bids, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />I <br />r <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS ON McGARVEY AT EACH OF ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH <br />CHESTERTON. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION 1999 ESTABLISHING STOP SIGNS ON McGARVEY AT EACH OF ITS <br />INTERSECTIONS WITH CHESTERTON And moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call. <br />TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED THAT RED ZONES BE ESTABLISHED FOR A DISTANCE CP SEVENTY-FIVE FEET <br />NORTH FROM JEFFERSON AVENUE ON BOTH SIDES DF HUDSON STREET so that traffic con move freely at this location. <br />Construction work is* underway at Hudson and Jefferson Avenue for the installation of a traffic signal at <br />this location. Councilman Spillers moved to accept the Traffic Committee's recommendation, seconded by <br />Councilman Stout and carried. <br />Councilman Granger .offered RESOLUTION 2000 GRANTING VARIANCE TO H. MORELLO TO ALLON CONSTRUCTION OF FOUR UNIT <br />APARTMENT WITH THREE GARAGES ON PROTION OF LOT 6, BLOCK 47.9 EASTERN ADDITION, and moved its adoption, <br />seconded by Councilman noyer and carried on roll call. <br />1 Councilman Royer moved that a PETITION FOR ANNEXATION FOR A PORTION OF EtAERALD LAKE be'referred to the Planning <br />Commission, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />Councilman Granger stated that the memorial placque would be ready by April 2nd. Councilman Spillers moved to <br />set April 2nd as the night for setting the placque, seconded by Councilman Jones. Councilman Granger <br />suggested the time of 7:30 p.m. and he suggested that the different Veteran organizations be notified. He <br />° offered to draft a letter and have the Clerk write the letter and mail it to the different organizations. <br />Councilman Spillers addect this to his motion which carried. <br />City Manager Rolison stated that the architect for the Memorial Building requests advertisement for bids on <br />chairs, tables, etc. 'Councilman Royer moved approval to have the City Manager advertise for bids, sedonded <br />i <br />by Councilman Jones and carried. <br />City Manager Rolison stated that he was prepared to advertise for the addition to bleacher at Community Park. <br />
