The City Manager reported that the bid analysis indicated i
that the lora bid was Mr. Budd 0. Stevenson with a total bid of $$30,880. .After crediting all rentals !
received from the Forty—Niners, if the City purchases the building and leasehold interest from Mr.
Stevenson atsthe end of five years, the net cost would be $$102985,. or at the end of ten years, $13080.
Councilman -Royer moved to reject the building bids and retain the 49er—bid, seconded by Councilman
Spillers and carried. Councilman Royer moved that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for
bids for construction of building paid on a cash basis, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
Councilman Royer moved that the bid received from the 49ers regarding the lease of the building be
continued for two weeks, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
REPORT ON BID OPENING TO IMPROVE GRANDSTAND, HAUTES PARK. There was only one bid received and that was from
Raymond L. Spalding of Redwood City in the lump sum amount of $11040. The preliminary engineer's
estimate was $10,900 based upon the wall covering material being 1" x 6." sheathing. Before calling for
bids it was agreed that the wall covering should be constructed of shiplap or siding, due to excessive
shrinkage of common sheathing. City Engineer Jain recommended that the bid be accepted. The bidder
suggested that the outside sheathing be painted immediately upon construction in order to prevent
excessive discoloration. This would be desirable, and if funds are available, should be authorized as
extra work by negotiation with the contractor.
Councilman Spillers moved approval of the City Engineer's recommendations. seconded by Councilman Royer,
City Manager Rolison stated that it was understood that this should be paid from the Community Park
Fund. There was a short discussion in regard to the use of stain rather than paint. Motion carried.
TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION REGARDING STOP SIGNS ON BREWSTER AVENUE AT INTERSECTION WITH
KING STREET AND A STOP SIGN ON KING AT INTERSECTION WITH JAMES AVENUE. A study was made on King Street
from Jefferson Avenue to Whipple Avenue. Inasmuch as King Street is one of the routes used by the Fire
Department, stop signs have been placed at Harrison, James and Katherine Avenues. It is, therefore, the
recommendation of the Traffic Committee to further improve the conditions on King Street and they asked 1-3
for stop signs to be installed on King Street at each of its intersections with James Avenue and on
Brewster Avenue at each of its intersections with King Street. Councilman Granger moved to approve
the recommendation of the Traffic Committee and offered.Resolution 2007 establishing stop signs as
noted above and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer. The motion carried on roll call with
tp
Councilmen Britschgi and Stout voting NO.
LETTER FROM C. G. UHLENBERG IN REGARD TO 3:956-57 AUDIT.
