Ft. $20,000 to $25,000 to replace this building would be a likely <br />estimate. <br />In order to make the plumbing comply to the Redwood City Plumbing Code$ it <br />would necessitate an expenditure of approximately $700. <br />Very tryly yours, <br />S. H. Kreiss, Building Inspector <br />Councilman Herkner moved that the building not be rented for the purpose as requested for the nursery <br />school. This was followed by discussion as to whether or not this building could be rented out to <br />9 <br />other organizations. Fire Marshal Asvos stated that this building can not comply to Fire Zone No. 2. <br />Councilman Granger seconded the motion. This was followed by further discussion. Councilman Britschgi �I <br />P L�� <br />was of the opinion that the City could possibly tear down part of the building and just leave the meet- <br />ing room and the kitchen and rent this out or lend it out as a meeting room. The motion carried. <br />Councilman Stout wanted to know if the figures quoted were minimum or maximum figures. The Mayor <br />appointed Councilmen Stout and Granger as a committee to study this matter and report back to the Council <br />in three weeks, July 9th. <br />CITY CLERK REPORT ON PROPOSED MICROFILMING RECORDS. The Clerk made the following report: <br />We have made inquiries regarding the possible expense to install microfilming of vital records. <br />League of California Cities did not have anything•on had other than a record of the program <br />as submitted by City Clerk of El Monte, California, who has been microfilming for the past <br />two years. The following comments will indicate the feeling of the E1 Monte authorities: < <br />1- Saves space releasing filing equipment for more active records. <br />2. <br />Better protection and preservation of <br />vital records. Duplicate film <br />can be copied and stored in vaults or <br />other safe places. <br />3- <br />Some permanent records are on inferior <br />paper which deteriorate rapidly. <br />I <br />These may be microfilmed and made safe <br />from deterioration, fire, water, etc- <br />G <br />' <br />4- <br />Microfilmed records may be moved from <br />one location to another at considerable <br />less expense than original documents- <br />; <br />5. Departments are relieved from responsibility for car of obsolete records. <br />El Monte has used the Recordak Junior which is a combination 16mm machine and film reader, <br />very compact in a single cabinet approximately 3 feet square. 100 foot roll of film will <br />record 6 minute books and indexes. This film will also record 3000 letter size documents. <br />Price of equipment is approximately $900 and film at $3.80 per roll. <br />Councilman Stout moved .that this matter be referred to the City Manager for consideration at budget <br />time, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. , <br />STATUS OF ENGRAVING NAME PLATES FOR PRESENTATION TO OUTGOING OFFICIALS.
